ah good shout just noticed a few of my fs/ft threads have these differing locked icons. Only thing I can see is that the blue ones have the last post by a mod and the orange ones don't.

mine are on locked fs/ft threads not deals so I wouldn't have thought it was to do with the heat they reached.

I assumed one icon is for a locked thread you've seen all the posts in whereas the other is a locked thread that you haven't visited since it was last posted in.

can't be that as a couple of them I have been the last one to post before the lock or I have been the last one to post befroe the mod had locked them.

here's an example,

The action of unlocking would occur after your post though (even thought it may not add a post), if you visited the locked thread it it should change to the blue icon.

It's to do with how "hot" the thread is... but not as in how hot it has been voted... but rather "hot" in terms of how many posts it has in the thread.

If it is still on the first page then it gets a blue lock.
If it has gone one the the 2nd page of more of the thread then it gets a red lock.

does it matter that I view 30 posts per page in text view or is there a forum standard if that makes sense.

One of the red locked threads has 15 posts and another blue one has 13. would views also count towrads its "heat"?
