had noticed it on the odd occasion, by maybe one member, but seeing it alot within threads now, and one does it, then 3 or 4 seem to follow, then they all say after seeing pics there no longer interested, etc,etc

find those a bit annoying, either its for sale or not for sale.. if you already have a buyer lined up why bother "advertising" to everyone else? *shrug*

i thought if a sale has been achieved through the board, it had to be finalised on the board. u cant trade on PM which is what would happen if you went straight to the buyer

cant say I have noticed this ever

Always seems to be on kids stuff from what I have seen. I think people are afraid they will miss a bargain

Or...... when people have a clear out and have a long list up. Before the seller gets chance to sort the listing (updates and pictures) there is a queue of 10 people.

I am with you there Sassie, drives me nuts, but so do loads of other things

A few times in usual vibeone styley I've go into threads and said summut like "Asking price here - can pay immediately rather than this paying later crap" and I think on more than one occasion the OP has sold to me.

It annoys me as well. You either make an offer or GTFO of the thread.

I include "offer asking pending pics" in that as well - if you are waiting for pics, don't make an offer.
#10
im selling a few things, and people have made offers, do i have to wait for people whove said will take pending pics? if had a offer off som1?
banned#11
you dont have to sell to anyone, but im of the thinking of if people cant show respect to everyone on the fs boards then why should you show them any, saying you will take pending pics, is not an offer, it is them getting in 1st in the hope the seller will sell to them, and they even expect you to carry on tha banter till an agreement is met, even if someone 3 posts down offer you asking price, the 1st person will then say i showed an interest first and you should sell to me, if someone offers you what you want then sell, you could be waiting days for a response off anyone, sell when someone offers what you want

yours was the thread that actually poushed me to post this thread, 3 members offered to buy with stipulations, then all 3 then posted they no longer wanted to, with your 3 reponses that meant that thread had recieved 9 bumps and no sale, that means 9 peoples threads had been knocked down the page, just incase someone missed out on something, not really fair on others
#12
yea i tght that, but i dint want to affend any one by selling to som1 who offered me asking price, but the one im waiting on still has offered me lower than what i want,

Il put my hands up to doing it now and again, ( This is on my own threads ) When i havnt prepared a picture, il put pending picture, Use post#1 for editing purpose's,

However i did see Rayman post saying that it does count towards a bump, I have no idea what thread it was on, Could've been in feedback or Misc.
#14
I don't think that there is anything that can be done about it. Conditional offers are allowed, and these are conditional offers.

It's up to the seller to understand how the For Sale/Trade boards work, and to differentiate between them.

 Gotcha now, re-read op i seen bit about pending pics, assumed it was to do with both seller + buyers,

I have seen this alot lately on fs boards, I sometimes put a pic when i have one prepeared or requested to do so, I do think that pictures should be inforced more, Rather than putting it into a post but have a section on the op a large space for picture,

However i doubt that would happen, And be told to use the post section for pictures. ( technically counts towards a bump ) .

I know moderators are not around all the time, To lock threads and place a post to request the seller place a picture up, Which use's their time ( the mod ) and resources.

I think an option like when select a category you get an error for not selecting one, thread doe's not list.

Where an option box for placing a picture shoud happen the same way as the (category box ) listing does not go up until a picture is uploaded, Can this be implemeted?

It would save moderators time, Potential buyers the time in asking for a picture, Would not act towards a thread bump.
#16
^^^ It's been asked a lot of times by other members, but it's not always necessary to provide pictures, and not everyone can upload them.

It works the way it is, and long may it continue.

it seems unfair on those that wait for pics, maybe we shpuld all start reserving on every post whether we want or not

was just waiting for pics on a river island bag, but someone was straight in there, so 3 bumps when they werent even interested, it wasnt my thing either, but should i should have posted "2nd dibs" then after pixs said wasnt interested, making it 6 bumps

I make it a rule not to offer if the op has not put pictures up, as I see it you dont deserve the sale if you cant be assed, I tried for a while to post in the threads and state the rules but half of them dont bother.

these ones get in before the op can press submit no dount, im surprised they are so fast they dont end up with the ops 1st post in the 2nd post, they are there within seconds

I agree that the picture should be submitted at the same time as the op and post not allowed otherwise

WOW! That FS thread is a complete mess. I dont even understand what was on offer or whats been sold on it or to who!
#26
as much as asb gets derided at times ( I'll include myself in that) you certainly can see the difference when he isn't around.

on that point will a new or existing mod be put in charge covering while he isn't around?
#27
I don't see the problem. If there is a bargain to be had, and you just need some confirmation of something, then why not put in a conditional offer?

e.g. FS: PS3 with scratch on top - £50. Someone then post "i'll take it for the asking price depending how bad the scratch is"

Then when the picture is posted they can decide or not. The first interested people should be able to make the deal, not whatever lucky person comes in the thread just after the picture has been posted.

and when someone doesnt even post in the op whats for sale and you have 3 members say i will take pending pics, then those same 3 then all post to say i dont want that, then the op posts another you think thats pretty fair on other peoples threads who actually can be bothered to list properly, this is what im referring to
#29
Well, in that case sassie, you do have a point.

However, the problem is not just with the buyers, but with the sellers. If i know i am going to have a big first post, i will prepare it all and type it all out, before i even start the thread. Then when i have don the OP it is a straight copy and paste and it's done. Why open a bloomin' thread when you're not ready for it.

because it gets more bumps, more activity, more interest, and marks my words, watch how quickly people catch on :whistling:

I also do this.

Open up a reply in a different thread before posting, preview it, then copy and paste

A lot of members, old and new do not realise how to do it.

I did suggest that this should be implemented as standard a week or two back, so expect it to be in the next forum make-over.
