The original reason is that ebay listings are variable in price/quality/etc. This was set before merchants started setting up stores with BIN, distance selling regs applying etc. The issue now would mainly be one of stock I think.

It was a really good deal though shame i already got it in a bundle deal.

I think its stupid to remove them as there are some great deals but as members we are too stupid to be allowed to look at them

Fair enough they shouldn't be allowed in deals, I understand that, but couldn't they just be moved to Misc as a tip, so at least people can benefit from it. Or conversely couldn't we post in Misc about these eBay deals, just as a 'heads up'. Surely the whole point of this site is to promote and encourage money-saving and this is yet another way to do that.

Thanks for the clarification... in this particular case there were 900+ in stock but realise rules are rules :)

Well admin is quoting lack of stock as the (only?) reason, so I am not sure why this could not be reviewed and reinstated. It's £8.99 BNIB with lots of stock. If people don't like the merchant etc etc they can put a negative comment and vote cold

Ps "rules are rules" ie having a rule for the sake of it is my pet hate, if the rule is rubbish, or no longer valid, why not challenge it???

+1. Also WH Smiths console and games sale of some months back, oh and there was a B&Q "bath for a quid" that got around 3000 degrees of heat

Let's start with the daily deals. I think those should be ok to post as they are reputable brands and stock levels etc

Ideas/comments on rules for wider eBay BIN's would be appreciated...

Think you have got it spot on, the daily deals have lots of stock and are at a fixed price.

I'd be wary of including much else from ebay other than as a tip or a heads up in misc (ie "this seller has 200 in stock on this item" - but even then it could turn out to be self promotion)

I agree that reputable ebay stores / daily deals should be allowed. Some of them are fantastic deals and you can still use quidco

BIN's not too sure about, as sometimes they are not reputable or in Hong Kong

What about a 98% positive & 250+ rating? For the record, mine is ~125 & I have never sold anything.

The last time I bought a deal of the day was from Ebuyers outlet, the info was posted on here, it was a Xenta dvd player with usb video playback for £19.99 delivered. It turned up damaged and the usb port didn't work at all, it took approx 8 days to get my money back after having to file a dispute via Paypal because the comms were awful, the comms were good during the returns process but then all comms virtually stopped! Needless to say I left negative feedback due to lack of service. Yes this can happen with any online retailer, but it felt like because it was via Ebay that they didn't have to try very hard to help. Ebuyer even rang me to ask why I left negative feedback, the cheek of it!!!!!!!

I can see fingers getting burnt allowing Ebay deal of the day jobbies to be posted. It's a big no from me, even if I hadn't had the problem with Ebuyer.

Using these sellers may be a good benchmark.

or just allow members to post deals for ebay shops/outlets ?

I'm sure there would be other ways to keep the HUKD ethic whilst allowing certain Ebay seller and I'm pretty sure ebay themselves would be interested in helping find a way ??

All just my opinion of course. :)

Ebay is trying to turn itself from a forum where private individuals sell to one where big companies do so. I absolutely agree that a few years ago, it was entirely correct to ban ebay but I just do not think that such a simple rule really works now. There are numerous big retailors selling on ebay and I have purchased some absolutely fantastic deals that would just not be available elsewhere.

I guess what I am saying is that ebay deals should be allowed in some capacity. Given that the stock rule does not apply to many auctions - such as deal of the day - i would be interested in hearing why not.

I can see why, one reason is possible self or friend promotion as sellers could have different usernames but be the same person and the price of items can be altered
