Don't think they could pm everyone whose threads disappear would take up alot of time I imagine

We get in touch if threads have been removed by a member of the team here. However much of this site is self regulated and as such, if enough members deem a thread to be spam (e.g. duplicate of an existing thread or indeed spam), you can't be assured of getting a response from us.

However if you do have any concerns or further queries, do indeed get in touch and we'll be happy to expand further.

it still cant be that time consuming to amend the system so that a PM is sent when your thread gets spammed.

Can`t you install some kind of auto pm,so that the OP knows that its been spammed like what csiman just said, can`t be that hard

Personally I'd like a spam section where all spammed posts are moved to, then they are still viewable to the op and maybe a reason can be added there. They would not clog up the usuall sections and would only be viewable if you want to go and look fir it. You could still permanently delete those that are truly spam but I guess the vast majority of spammed threads pose no risk.

Wouldn't work in the off cases.

My personal view is you can report the thread, contact a mod/helper (stating what it was etc) or use the following thread and paste it there. (Found here) Where as most of the threads in there are misc related the same theory applies.

There's no need to mess around with something of this nature, if a mod/helper ever spams your thread they will inform you, so any other spam you can assume it's been done by a member for similar reason (duplicate) When my threads used to disappear I would usually just do a quick search on the item I posted in Google and sure enough I would find it was a duplicate.

it should take any developer worth their salt 10 minutes to integrate a PM system when deals get spammed.

its common courtesy if you ask me!

Would it be such a bad thing if spamming was removed, yes there would be a fair few duplicates but maybe a report to helpers and they spam would be better than letting every tom dick and percy be able to spam. Perhaps a spam badge could be earnt for spam spotters and in turn they could be given the thread deletion option.
