I wanted mine unexpired so I can close it when the buyers received it and we've both left feedback. It'll drop off the front page within an hour and I don't require anyone to do my house keeping for me.

Perhaps the expire button is better suited to deals rather than FS/FT.
[mod]#2
We unexpire a fs/t thread as there is an issue with the account status of an unlocked expired thread in folk and the member needs to have the thread listed as being active before they can self close.

The expire button field is an old feature introduced before folk was implemented. Hopefully the new system will help address the status error.

unepired makes no difference to posting and leaving feedback, it isnt about dropping off the page, it is no longer for sale so again explain why it needs to show as not expired

I suggest you find some other way to occupy your time, if a simple thing like viewing sold items is causing you so much upset then it might be time to get some fresh air.

I'll mark mine as sold now.
[mod]#6
If the item has been sold members should close their threads via folk as per forum rules - this will both lock and expire the thread - both actions performed together.

(8) Please update and close your thread in FO.LK once the item has been sold, trade completed or if the thread has been left open and dormant, as every thread MUST be expired and closed.. This is YOUR responsibility, as re-listing items must only take place at least seven days from the last activity in the thread. Use the button if you require a moderator's help with this.

We do PM all members who send in mod reports to close their threads with the correct procedure and will continue to help educate new members in the processes involved as do our more experienced members (you being one of those helpful members)

There is only an issue if an unlocked thread is expired and as I said hopefully this will be addressed in the new system.

as you will see by flodds comment above, most members only lock their threads when items have been received, thats if most bother at all, as you will also see from flodds comment most dont even know what the buttons do, let alone how to use them

so am i taking it the expire button will not be on the new site? from what i can see it will still be there, so how do you suggest customising it in the new site so we dont see items sold

yet when you lock a new members thread for information it expires it, and then you wonder why they relist, maybe for the same reasons over in folk you are talking about in this thread, but it doesnt stop you doing it even though you are obviously aware of problem

I'm well aware of what the buttons do Sassie but if I expire the thread at HUKD then I can't close it down at fo.lk. Now admitadley this is the first time I've sold everything on a thread (perhaps it's cause there was only one item) I usually group then together to save filling the front page, in the past I've always expired the thread (though it requires more than just myself) and closed it later on in Fo.lk when the items are no longer for sale.

I would imagine as we all move across in fo.lk it won't be an issue (except for me with an out of date work browser that won;t let me view parts of fo.lk but that's another matter.)

I'd love to know who both spammed and expired my FS thread though as someone clearly is confused as to what the options are.

when a thread is expired a line automatically goes through spammed, as you cannot spam an expired thread

fo lk has been about months, and obviously so has this issue, yet the problem is still there months later, mods lock members threads for more information, they maybe only use fo lk and they then suspend them for relisting when they cant see the other thread on fo lk, and thats ok, it aint good really
#10
See your point Sassie await a no response response.

I don't use Fo.lk, but now have to lock my threads because mods won't lock they want you to do it themselves.

I don't want to use Fo.Lk it's poor.

the same as the voucher finder box problem defaulting the board to exclude expired, then wondering why members keep relisting, never sorted to this day

No but you can expire a spammed thread...

Why am I arguing this with you? If it makes you happier to clean the FS/FT board up then do so but please don't expire my threads I'll do my own if that's okay?

i have no idea what you are talking about, an expired thread cannot be spammed, a spammed thread is not on the boards so cannot be expired, the line was through both because i can expire a thread on my own, had i not been able to then it would take someone esle to also hit expire, you saw the line through both becaue it had been expired, had it been spammed you wouldnt have seen the thread

this isnt about you or i, it is about the bad bits of the boards, which i would like to see sorted, mods cant tell people to customise when the boards doesnt work right, dont take it personally

Actually no, serious response:

Sassie, if you stopped polluting the forum with literally-pointless threads like this, people would take the threads where you actually have a valid point more seriously. Stop wasting the mods time.

to expire a thread in the fs board once sold was the right thing to do

since fo lk it appears we can no longer do this because of the fault on fo lk, (of course us all being telepathic we should know this ) this fault is also causing the suspension of members, and still nothing is done about it, i would say this is a very vaild point as vaild as the voucher finder box (that was never sorted)

example from today

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/713135/fs-3-royal-crown-derby-1128-imari-p locked and expired by a mod,. so probably cant see it

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/713206/fs-3-royal-crown-derby-imari-1128-p and hey ho, locked and expired by another mod, i am sure if he could have seen the other thread he would have copied and pasted it, rather then re wrote it all  awaits for the 3rd relist and suspension, maybe they will leave the 3rd one unexpired for him to see it

if this member has only used fo lk to list, or used the voucher finder box they would not have been able to find there thread, how the hell is this fair and a non valid point to bring up

a little off topic but...
You know when you go into fo.lk and lock your thread there is no date when the mods used to lock it there would be a time and date, you have to wait 7 days to relist but now on fo.lks way the only date you have is the last post in the thread to use as a date how do you know when you have locked it 7 days ago or does everyone just go by 7 days since last post ?

When you self lock a thread in folk its 7 days from the last thread post - so in many cases you can relist much sooner than under the old system and no routine mod closure post is required which was one of the big complaints by members as it bumped the thread. We also PM'd a lot of members in the changeover period but the response has been very positive with most highlighting the advantages of the new method.

SABJ, just to help further, a few of the rules were amended at the same time as the new closure system came into effect and a summary of the main changes was posted by aScottishbloke and can be found here :

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/13761/updated-for-sale-forum-rules-and-gu/showpost.php?p=8364795&postcount=447

As always though if any member wants to check something in regards to a specific thread then use the report link on the relevant thread to send us a MOD query and we'll reply directly.

Thanks again :)

well its nice to see a mod cant take the time to tell a member how to lock a thread on folk but completely ignore the problems between here and folk, and the members threads they lock and expect them to still be able to find them, nice one
