Hi Haylhoo,

Thanks for getting in touch. I've just checked the volume of removed posts in the last month (less than 3%).

You've been a great poster and fantastic to see you sharing these deals. It's understandably frustrating if they are then subsequently removed. If it's been removed by a moderator, you should expect a PM at some point, although not always immediate. As this site is regulated by the members to an extent, they may 'spam' your deal as duplicate. Again we try to inform but due to the sheer volume it's not always possible to let you know.

We don't want to see duplicate deals cluttering up the forum. If the existing thread is less than 1 month old, please consider bumping the original to bring it to the attention of others who may have missed the deal.

If there's anything else we can help you with, do give us a shout.

I know exactly how you feel Haylhoo. Ive given up posting things now

The search works fine, it takes some getting used to though.

I've tried all shapes, putting in simple 1 word searches to more lengthy ones, and still sometimes I dont find anything and then find that the item I was posting gets removed.

Thanks to Admin for the reply. I wonder if you could comment on the Search situation?

The best thing to do before you post is to do an advanced search for the main keyword under the shop you are posting for - next to search at the top right of the screen, click the advanced button and then you will be able to enter the main Keyword and In Deals for Merchant start typing the shop name and choose the one you want. This is far better than using the search box on the main screen and should pick up the duplicates :)

Hi,

The 'duplicate' search at time of submit is another tool to assist in the prevention of duplicates. It's not expected that this will work 100% as quite often the URL will not be an identical match, yet the item in question may well be the same.

When searching for duplicates, I usually do an advanced search using both merchant and adding the product name in the title. This only ever fails when the thread has not been posted in the correct manner.

Taking your latest deal as an example

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/646759/samsung-4gb-sd-plus-memory-card-cla

I'd enter play.com in the "In Deals for Merchant" and +samsung +4gb in the "Search by keyword" entry, ensuring the default of "Search Titles Only" is left unchanged. This will return approx 5 or so records and should be enough for you to determine if your post will be unique. You can adapt your searches to match that of well constructed threads.

Again let us know if we can assist any further.

No it doesn't.
It's pants.

I've seen loads of errors with it but have given up reporting them as nothing seems to be done about them. :x

Thanks again all. I started using the Advanced function, as of this morning before posting some deals. So hopefully i'll have better luck in the future.

Now, what about all the rude numpties on this site...................... ;-)

No it doesn't, it's pants.

Pick on Micoo for example.
He's been a member for a while now but only really started posted with a flourish relatively lately.
Find all posts from 1 year ago and older from him.

The second result is a post on 06-06-2009.
By my reckoning that is about 9 months ago and not 1 year or more.

I have seen loads of inaccuracies using the search ( even some where TheSaint has agreed with me ) but have given up reporting them.

And don't ask me to link them 'cos I won't be able to find them using this search. :w00t:

What a load of cobras.
I shouldn't have to try and second guess how the search works.
It should work logically like every other search I have used. ( or written myself for that matter. )

And sorry Gary, but your search is not advanced enough for me, I like to pinpoint things down a bit more.

I find the best way is to goggle it, this has proved far more reliable IMO

no need to guess - just try and understand it first time :whistling:
