Have you posted some cold deals?
#2
Not that I am aware off.
But are you saying if you post a deal and it gets voted cold then you lose your voting power?
surely this would discourage people from posting deals, as if voted cold then you are "peanalised".:?

I agree with mastiffs
is there anyway we can get more transparency

Your voting rep is mainly based on your deals. If you haven't posted much hot then you won't have much influence.

And yes it should discourage people from posting cold deals!
#5
I've always posted deals because SOMEONE might benefit. I didn't care if it was hot or not - because someone out there would probably have benefitted and it would help the site.

Cold deals should not effect your voting rep IMO.

I agree highguy. Someone could post a really fantastic deal that saves some people loads of money but it could be a bit of an obscure item which many people then seem to vote cold just because they don't like the item. So not only do they end up with a cold deal but apparently they also get penalised for posting what in reality, was a brilliant deal just because it wasn't of benefit to the masses.

Can you please put this to bed once & for all?

What is the top level/temp for a single person's vote?
This used to be 12. I had this highest level until the site update changed mine to 18 (this figure would seem to indicate there is a problem with the system NOT the members reps/deals surely?!?), then down to 11 & then down to 9....does this mean the 'new' highest level is now 9 as I'm not seeing too many freezing deals on my track record (a couple of low rated ones, but nothing stunningly cold) & see I see no reason for this to have dropped by 25%??!?
I have mentioned this before & received the stock answer that it would be 'looked into' (this was at the same time as single members Expiring deals was being 'looked into').
If I recall correctly it was put down to a possible error in a formula.
Sorry if I've missed the response through not checking the feedback forums often enough but it seems that the 'issue' is still there.

Think it must have been lowered - this is probably a good thing given the growth in the site - but as you say transparency would be nice.

Where do you find out your voting power anyway? With a reputation system in place, I would have expected to see a prominent link to the guidelines on how it works (especially for newbies) but I still can't find anything. It took me a week or two before I realised that deals were voted hot/cold or that I could leave reputation for a good find/helpful post etc!

Your 'voting power' is just the temp you increase or decrease a deal by.
Watch as you cast your vote & you should see how much you 'heat' or 'cool' by. You would need to check this over a number of votes as you could be voting at the same time as other members, creating a larger or smaller vote than your actual power.
(the best way to test is find a couple of deals well away from the front page - weeks old maybe - that no-one else is likely to be voting on simultaneously)

Aaaaah, I get you. Thanks. :)

Mine is pretty much a ditto of what you have said.

Not that I am too bothered either way!!!

Yeah, I think 9's currently the max. :)

mine's 9 too and i only posted three deals and they all where cack, -98 with seconds - lol

Just goes to show how little the cold deals really affect it then. It's not as if you have to post lots and the more you post the higher it gets until you are a super-voter. It's more of a measure to stop people creating ultiple accounts for voting on deals...
#17
Well sometimes mine counts as 4 and sometimes 9 so I'm not sure what that means ?

Probably because someone has voted cold whilst you have voted hot, meaning it's "averaged" out that there is a gain of 4.

I'll test it during one of my "bad nights", lol
Can't see anyone voting at exactly the same time as me at 4:30 am(ish) :w00t:

One thing that can happen - say you have a long page of deals open in full details view... you're looking down them... you maybe go off to browse another window, then come back to the deals again, but you're seeing them at the temps they were when you first loaded the page. Then you click it, and it goes up or down more than your single click would affect it. (As someone else has been voting too)

This happens to me sometimes :)
