not under any circumstances Ebay is evil

lol! I dont think anyone said ebay was evil ..
#2
Ebay deals arent allowed here for various reasons. Quite a bit uncertainty in finding a good ebay deal, possibility of self promotion, shill bidding, no warranty (except BIN items), issue of used or abused items etc.. HUKD allows deals only from reputed merchants as identified by members & mod team. If you want ebay deals, you have a place to go barginz ... Ebay :)
#3
why is there not a good choice of poll answers
i would vote no but my understanding is that ebay isnt evil

1. "quite a bit of uncertainty in finding a good deal" - have you seen some of the dubious cr*p posted here ;)
2. "self promotion" - does that matter to you? that happens here all the time I reckon. isn't the only criteria whether something is really a good deal. i think you would be spending your time better if you cut out a lot of the £1 off a £20 memory card which bore me senseless.
3. "shill bidding" - huh.. i'm talking about Buy It Now - Fixed Price auctions...
4. "no warranty (except BIN items)" - ditto
5. "HUKD allows deals only from reputed merchants as identified by members & mod team" - now we're at it... do you have affiliation or cash back deals? there are very many VERY reputable powersellers on Ebay. I suggest (as is my proposal) that you allow ebay powersellers. Ebay do the work for you, and should, after 10,000 sales they suddenly go bad then PayPal protects people. By the way why do you try to censor things so much?

I suggest you start up an ebay thread or section.. people who come here aren't the meek and mild, they are here bargain hunting.. they understand Caveat Emptor and trying to be parents is just annoying...

Time for the bureaucracy that is holding this site back to lighten up a little. Ebay is NOT evil. Ebay BINs have some of the best deals on the internet. C'mon guys and gals!!!!!

P.S. If Froogle lists Ebay Buy It Nows...why shouldn't here do it too?

i'm not complaining

Everyone should be able to vote barginz as long as they are registered, logged in and havent voted before. I think people may not vote as they dont see poll choices as being fair

Self promo is a big no no. If this place became a marketers free for all we may as well all leave as everything would be so skewed.

Paypal protection isn't total - it's not even a registered bank (though it's big enough to be). There are some horror stories around re paypal, your far better off with a credit card on over £100 purchases.

Ebay is mostly second hand stuff, with the possibility of no shows, nicked stock, grey imports, no warranty (other than a few powersellers that offer their own in place of a real warranty, and even then you may have problems)

If you want to buy something off ebay by all means go for it but self promo would be a nightmare to mod, counterfeits would abound, as would refurbs and second hand items.
#9
I'm not voting but my view is if ebay links were allowed, all the ebay users will find out and the ONLY deals we shall see if self promotional items from users themselves regardless of whether the deal was hot or not - they just want money.

Would much rather see deal judgment by the public and not the owners.
#10
Also can we get the poll changed? The answers are too subjective and the question itself is leading.
"Should ebay be allowed?" Yes/No would be sufficient.
#11
I don't want to see ebay items on here.
"Paypal protects", does it?? Wake up.

What a waste of time, if you don't like or agree with HUKD's rules then you know what to do.

No one can interfere with Voting. Can be done only once though :)

I've modified the poll options.
#13
I don't know the exact reasons why (Being only new myself)

But i'd guess its because HDUK can't verify an ebay seller as genuine (Unlike highstreet retailers and well known online retailers), Somebody with 100 feedback could do a runner with the money for the 100 radios and just cease trading on Ebay (Or an account could have been Hi-jacked etc.)

Somebody can't really Hi-jack play.com or amazon to name a few!, A fake page could redirect and get your details that way but its unlikely and the fake website would be pulled off the internets within a matter of minutes.
#14
Also to add some Ebay sellers charge a lot for postage and a little amount for the actual product so if you have to return the item you'll only get paid back the actual item price, Not the postage costs.

Whereas many online retailers will actually pay the postage cost to send it back to them.

Edit : Allowing Ebay links would cause mayhem on the forum to!

Edit 2 : Basically to save reading my rambling on : Ebay carries more risks then the likes of highstreet or online retailers!

I've modified the poll options.

That's better

This post/thread/poll is a complete waste of time.
Admin(Paul) has made it quite clear many many times that he will not allow ebay links/items on here. Our opinions will have NO effect at all, so why even bother voting?

He allows item numbers and people posting 'help' questions, so don't rock the boat.

whats this thing about dab radios then
isnt there a very similar thread about hdmania?

.... which is why the prices are slightly cheaper :). I do shop in ebay for items that are not worth more than a few pounds. If anything goes wrong, I can afford to bin it.
#18
I've voted no, as I really do think HUKD has no place for eBay auctions, regardless of whether they are powersellers or not.

What is your ebay ID barginz, if you don't mind telling?

Ebay/Paypal................it's all too scary for me:o

HUKD = not scary/friendly........let's keep it that way:)

ITV aren't running this vote are they.

Being very active both buying and selling on eBay I have to agree that I do not want eBay deals on here either.

I see HUKD as a giant shop that is useful for not having to look around every different shop to get the best deal or passing on deals that i have come across.

eBay is very much the same, every different selller of the same item can be found in the same site.

I aggree there are too many dodgy deals on ebay (not mine of course) to ever reccommend any deal. I do not reccommend any deals to friends unless they can afford to lose the money.

Maybe if they come from an ebay shop that maybe a compromise. As stated in an earlier post once ebayers could promote on here then the place would be awash with ebay 'bargains'.

Saying that I am convinced that the larger web based shops now know about HUKD and put up a few 'bargains' knowing full well the deal will be advertised on here, guaranteeing that a lot of people on here will visit.

Just look how many people were anticipating the ebuyer sale this week only to be dissapointed. However, ebuyer achieved their target of getting all those people to go to their site and maybe look at other items.

See, that is why ebay should be banned. If Edi, who is a 'seasoned' bargain hunter thinks like that, then what chance do 'noobies' to ebay and buying on the 'net' have.

I check every seller out as much as I can before I part with any money, same with my buyers, if they don't 'check out' I do not send my item.

Ebay is a scammers paradise, it's just total crap now and full of scrotes who just want to scam you.

Yes some have done this in the past - but we have procedures in place to prevent this, and all self-promoting posts are removed.

You leave so many in place. It's almost embarrasing. Some of them are just obvious. I love the ones the best that start.. 'this is my first post' LOL

Emma I was not really talking about self promoting posts, I was just pointing to say 'ebuyer' will put on a sale knowing full well it will be advertised on here as a hot deal.

This site is now just an empty vessel for Argos, Amazon, Ebuyer et al to use as a marketing tool. I just hope that you guys running this site are making a good load of cash from your 'arrangements'

Froogle is now becoming more interesting than here. Did you guys and gals set this up just to post 100% safe and reliable, bullet proof deals? What was the point of that?

Bullet proof deals is what we want and fortunately there are enough people in the know to help us all, especially if there is something dodgy, because there are many who do not know what to look out for(I include myself in this)

Steve, who knows as much about ebay as anyone, says it is full of scammers now,and that is why I do not go there.Better safe than sorry, and if that is dull and boring so be it.

HUKD is about deals for ALL,even if that is BOGOF on a burger!Meat and poison, mate!

Sorry Greg, but this site is on the verge of becoming dull and boring. I used to enjoy visiting once a day and something would catch my eye. Now it is just stuffed full on non genuine deals or ones of marginal interest (I bet, as you suggest - planted).

If the 'politically correct' 'nanny state' 'namby pampy' committee who run this place carry on, this site will be over very soon.

On the contrary I think this site is becoming more and more invaluable and the more I come on here the more I save, as many more do.

You simply cannot lose by coming on here and I believe that this sort of site will become so important that shops will adjust prices to suit offers placed on here.

Friends who I direct to places like here and quidco cannot believe the savings that can be made and are well chuffed.

Going to Alton Towers last week saved me approx £50 alone because of codes given on here.

I agree froogle is ok but does not show deals and discounts and I wish you could filter out eBay deals within froogle too as it is full of deals that are starting prices and don't refelct the real price.

Sorry Greg, but this site is on the verge of becoming dull and boring.

Greg, you are talking out of your @rse and worse still either deliberately trying to twist what I have said, or more likely, not bothered to read what I said. I am talking about deals from Ebay Powersellers. People with 1000s of feedback who aren't going to blow that hard one reputation on one scam. Yeah sure there are people with feedback of 2 who are scammers and yes, too, sometimes a business with a long track record can go tits up. But that's just the same as some of the truly awful businesses like BargainCrazy (who have stuff on their site that is no longer in stock).

I used to enjoy visiting once a day and something would catch my eye. Now it is just stuffed full on non genuine deals or ones of marginal interest (I bet, as you suggest - planted).

I don't think HUKD is the right place for you, is it?
The way I see it, if you don't like the deals or agree with the rules then you know what to do.
This site has over 35,000 members so HUKD MUST be doing something right.

That's obviously the only way you're going to see it, it's not eBay which is already promoted freely everywhere. HotUKDeals doesn't allow self promotion at all, end of...

No thanks, you have just been spouting complete and utter drivel and I along with many posters who posted on here don't agree with you.
You have not listened or responded to anybody who does not agree with you.
