they usually do
#2
probably they moved it into their hidden forum where they can decide what to do...
#3
Well, it's reappeared now???

It had definitely gone though as I even searched for it incase it had been moved to another section of the board.
#4
Sorry, it was moved for a few minutes to check out and has been back in the forum for around 30 minutes or so.
#5
Yeah, we often check things out if it's a new user, new retailer, etc. Just to clamp down on self promoting and minimise the innocent posting of risky businesses.

Don't take it to heart. :) A mod will usually send a message if it won't be coming back for some reason or another.
#6
No worries, I wasn't aware of your procedure of moving topics, I just presumed it had been deleted as it had gone.

At least I will know for next time now.
#7
It's OK. It's not something we have written anywhere as a hard-fast rule and try to work as quickly as possible.

:)

a couple of days ago i posted a deal for 10% off at asos.com and i logged in today to find it has been deleted, i haven't had a message from a mod to explain why, but noted in my reputation is that i posted "spam".

the deal i posted, to text "asos" to a particular number to receive a 10% discount, was completely genuine - i had tried it myself that day, placed an order with asos and it had worked - so why was it removed?

i just googled to see if there was perhaps anything dodgy about what i posted, but everything i found suggests not:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=5270965
for instance.

anyway, can anyone shed any light?? i wasn't trying to rip anyone off, quite the opposite infact. x
[admin]#9
You posted a number for people to text to in order to receive a 10% off code and people would be charged to text this number/receive the text.

The forum is here to share information not to try and scam people. Posting this type of "offer" is equivalent to posting an eBay auction link to win information on a voucher. It's not what this site is about. If you have the voucher great, share it.

And I thought I was blunt and to the point. :whistling:

Welcome to HUKD newbirds

but it is essentially no different to the "buy company magazine and receive 20% off asos" post, also on this forum.

i posted the offer to help others, not to try and scam anyone.

even so, it would have been polite to have let me know what i had done wrong so i wouldn't repeat the mistake on another occasion, rather than just label me a spammer.

My first deal was posted today at 14:08 and a second post at 15.51.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71006

It seems it has now been deleted. I also had a couple of posts deleted a few days ago in the deal wanted thread where I posted a link to a Nikon D80 at Rebelio.

What is going on? :?
[mod]#13
The thread has probably been removed to be checked by a Mod to make sure it's all above board. Just wait and it will either reappear or you'll receive a PM usually.

A MOD has removed ur post suspecting of self prom. You posted an item from a previously unknown site and another thread for the same item from another unknown site. You should get a PM soon if you havent got one already... :)
#15
What do you mean another thread for the same item? That is not the case. I posted once for this tyre thingy and on the camera thread I posted once, saw it didn't go through so tried to post it again.

Maybe I should just stick to leeching deals and not contribute? :-(
#16
Now another of my posts before the last one seems to have gone into the ether?

I'm confused.

Don't be disheartened. The Moderators have to be careful with new sites and new posters, they are not 'dissing you or your posts, but HUKD get a lot of scam posts.
I've had loads of posts removed and I'm a fairly 'experienced' poster.

Was moderated for yet another unknown link...
#19
LOL! OK don't worry, I won't be troubling the MODS again!
#20
Well, as it seems my other post from this thread is to end up on the scrap pile without further comment, editing or PM from the powers that be, I would like to repeat the part of it which stated unequivocally for the record that I have nothing whatsoever to do with the companies I have posted deals for and did not stand to benefit in anyway. In fact the only money I have ever made from the internet is my current Quidco balance of £2.22 and a few ebay auctions.

Personally I find it ridiculous that the only criteria for deleting a post is that the company linked to has never been linked to before. That automatically excludes any new companies even if the deals are genuine cracking savings. Something for the MODS to work on perhaps.

Anyway peoples, Ill only be leeching from now on so my thanks is the only return on investment you'll be getting.

THANKS! ;-)
#21
Who are the Companies?
#22
LOL, are you serious?

I think someone has a problem with me posting them, but I'll give it a go anyway!

One deal was for a co2 tyre inflator for bicycles from a company called Ultraflate.
And then There was a camera from a company called Rebelio which I found through a site called camera price buster.

Anyway, you asked so there it is. Read it quick before it gets deleted!
#23
Sites with third party affiliate links on them aren't allowed on HUKD. That's why that post in this thread was deleted.
#24
I thought the sites were aloud but not the actual links?

gamestation shopto and game all use affiliate programs!???

I don't see why it should get deleted.
I've just been looking at both companies and they are third party affiliates. That explains why they have been removed. You may not have known and it took me ages to 'check' them out.
Don't let this deter you from posting more deals.

edit,

Lots of sites with affiliate links appear on here, including ones that search for cheap console games and in stock Wiis to name two off the top of my head.

However it is your site so do as you see fit. I know it is difficult to moderate such a popular site and keep decisions consistent with so many MODs. Good luck with it. :)

The Ultraflate one was not an affiliate link. I purchased one and it was direct from the UK distributor.

These are the Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale of Ultraflate UK, 69 Haydons Road, London, SW19 1HQ ("the Seller", "We" or "Us") for certain products as set out in the pages on this site ("the Goods"). Subject to the provisions of Clause 4.2 below, the price of the Goods the delivery charges and Value Added Tax where applicable is set out on the Order Form.

If you Google Earth the Postcode, it looks like a suburban House.
Paypal only.

To be honest I'm a bit baffled by this:-

Just had a message from a mod saying that the thread might or might not be returned so I guess they are still considering it. The holiday has resulted in a lot more work and hence the delay in consideration.

He doesn't post as much as he used to, I think Andy is the 'wheeler dealer' for HUKD. I'm sure I've read that he's negotiated discounts for HUKD Members with some companies. I may be wrong.

Well, I'm not sure how they structure their company but they claim to be the UK importer. I ordered throught the ultraflateuk dot com website and it came within a couple of days with no drama so I don't believe they are dodgy.

Did you pay via Paypal? I wonder why they only accept Paypal?
I'll have a good search on ebay for them later.

Seems like a great product, have you used it yet?

Yup... fordy tends to work behind the scenes looking at the voucher side of things. He's secured a few exclusive deals for us like the SVP one.

Yep, paid via paypal. I know that merchant services accounts (credit card processing) facilities are difficult to set up. Also the last company I worked for had to keep a deposit equal to 6 months of card revenue with the bank as security in case they defaulted. If they are a small mainly wholesale outfit then its probably just not worth it to set up.

I looked to see if I could get it cheaper on ebay, but the same model wasn't available at the time. I have seen it offered for as much as £18 though bike shops.

I haven't used it yet as its for emergencies on my motorbike but it looks well made.

To be honest I don't understand how 4 seperate companies can have the same VAT number, I'll ask my O/H later. I'm NOT saying they are dodgy in any way.

Now I know, VAT Group.
