I posted similar concerns early on within the "All bugs / problems in this thread please. PLEASE SEE SUBTOPIC THREAD LINKS IN HEADER" feedback thread (as you mentioned), but it may help if you re-state the concerns in a more recent comment in case it has been missed &/or in an attempt to raise the priority of a response.

I don't think disabling the function for the "For Sale / For Trade" area is an improvement though as we will see incredibly hard to follow classifieds sales/trades if updates on what has 'gone' (sold/traded) are dotted throughout the other comments.

Sellers will be artificially 'bumping' threads with "updates" in new comments & prospective buyers will also be 'bumping' asking "what's left".

Perhaps we should look at enforcing that a "For Sale / Trade" thread has two opening posts; one for the description & one for updates.

Perhaps the [Edit] feature in every other area of the site should be limited to a default "timeout" (say, 5 minutes) when the button (link) is available but after the time limit has expired the comment cannot be changed.

BFN,

fp.

Sensible, I tend to reserve the first post when selling multiple items anyway but I guess some people don't think of it. Only prob is, these are the same people who don't read the rules LOL

I find that very hard to believe! ;)

The second post (the first comment) would need to be automatically created upon listing a thread though (with, say, default text of "reserved for updates") as you will find that on occasion the seller will not be quick enough to create another comment before somebody else jumps in with "price?" or "any trades?" or whatever.

So perhaps a change request for the site is the way to go rather than assuming a (new) seller follows the guidelines or convention adopted by everybody else.

BFN,

fp.

[EDIT]: PS. That raises a further point; the notification of a change of guidelines/rules should be sent to all members as a matter of course (not if that member has subscribed to the specific thread). "Ignorance of the law" is not an excuse, but if you are not aware that the rules have changed it is unreasonable to expect everybody to read every term prior to listing a deal (although it is expected).

Alternatively, the date that the rules last changed could be displayed with the link to the thread in the "Help" section so that a member can easily spot if they have changed.[/EDIT]
