For sale is an absolutely stunning 0.29ct princess cut, diamond solitaire engagement ring of exceptional quality.
I don't know quite where to start with this ring, but please make sure to read the description thoroughly and look at the many pictures I have tried to take of this ring - the pictures actually don't do this ring enough justice.
The ring just ooozes quality. It's a reluctant sale but we're saving for a new car, so this has got to go so the money can go into the pot for that.
I'll firstly start by saying that this ring was bought from an independent jewellers - and NOT from the High Street brands such as Ernest Jones and H Samuels - so you are NOT looking at a mass produced style of ring, it's different.
The overall look of the ring is subtle, simple and very elegant. There is a 0.29ct diamond which measures approximately 3.5mm x 3.6mm and has a depth of just under 3mm. The colour of the diamond is E/F and the clarity is VS1. The colour and clarity are an approximate, verbal estimation given by a reputeable local jeweller.
My partner has had this ring since 1998 from new, somewhere along the way in the past 12-13 years she has lost the original paperwork/receipt. The ring was purchased for £850.
The diamond is set in to an 18ct white gold collet, though after 12 years, this could do with having the rhodium re-plated, which is not a huge cost, about £15-£20? Perhaps less, as it's only the collet that needs re-plated and not the entire ring.
The ring shank is 18ct yellow gold and is solid - unlike modern day counterparts which have their shoulders scooped out to make the ring lighter and cheaper and more affordable, the entirity of the ring shank and shoulders are solid and quite weighty. The band is 3mm wide at the bottom and then tapers towards the knife-edge shoulders which support the diamond and setting.
The ring is fully hallmarked as follows:
Makers mark is MJJ, followed by the crown hallmark, followed by 750 (which denotes 18ct gold) followed by an anchor which is the Birmingham Assay Office stamp, follwed by the date letter Y which is for 1998 (please refer to pictures for confirmation).
