As the title states, it is a brand new 60GB replacement from Sony. I think it is a refurb but on the phone they said brand new. I have not unwrapped it from it's return packaging. Comes with USB cable for the controller, power cord, AV leads with scart block, box, and manuals.

I also have another one, exactly the same as above but has a used Sixaxis controller, I will accept offers in the region of £290.
Shipping/Payment:
Payment preferred by bank transfer or cash on collection, will accept cheque, or paypal (you need to pay the fees).

You can collect from Essex CM9 area.
If not I will send via DHL 48 hour courier, this will cost £7.50 with £50 compensation coverage, you will need to pay more for full insurance. I will pack it well.

Cheers for the comment mate, I thought it was a good price. I was looking for £315 for the one with controller and £300 without controller but want these gone quickly as they have been sitting here for a fortnight.

In all honesty mate it depends. Advantages of 60GB console are it has 4 USB ports whereas all others (afaik) only have 2, it has 60GB storage space, and the most important difference is it is the only console to play PS2 games and you can no longer get it. These are only going to get rarer and rarer. If you do not have/wish to get bargain PS2 games to play some old classics then the 40GB is probaly better for you. But some people already have loads of PS2 games so can sell the PS2 and get this, others want to be able to buy loads of games for bargain prices because PS3 games arel imited and expensive.

Well your lucky then mate as it's £282.50 delivered with £50 insurance  But all that info was in my original post.

Hey,any warranty left?receipt?

Cheers
#13
No receipt but both have warranty still. Unsure on how much exactly to be honest. I think the one with a controller has approx 5-6 months left, the one without controller has warranty until December sometime. However Sony have a policy to honour faults outside of warranty, the end result is down to them and that depends on the fault and cause (if it's caused by you using a surge protector or the console being knocked or dropped they have been known to decline). I think this was a way to look like heroes after microsofts failures. Sorry I can't find a source but I have had a console without receipt that I called up sony and told them any date of purchase that sprang to mind and they honoured it no problem. They cannot tell when you bought it.

the problem is the 80gb was selling for 250 new also my mate says his 60gb keeps breaking down

Hi,

(I was going to wait until the 160Gb models were available in the next month, but seeing your listing I thought I may be able to snag two 60Gb PS3 consoles at a reduced price).

I am interested in both consoles, and can collect during a weekday (as I am working locally in Chelmsford) if that suits you. Post code "CM9" is Maldon isn't it?

Could I see both consoles working upon collection, and do you have any paperwork from Sony regarding the exchange(s)?

Also, would you be able to offer any discount if I bought both consoles?

Thanks for your reply.

Hello mate, yes I am in the Maldon area and of course you can see them both working. Sony do not send any paperwork back with their returns but I do have the stickers they attach to the return consoles.

I am afraid there will be no discount for both of them as the price is already greatly reduced but obviously you will not be paying delivery on them.

If you are interested can you please confirm asap so other users know whether these are availiable or not.

I would have thought his 60GB breaking down would be a defective unit mate so if he calls Sony they should replace it with a fully refurbished model. Also (in my opinion) there isn't much call for a 80GB hd over a 60GB or even indeed a 40GB. What is the space needed for? And as you can replace with any correct spec hd you can have a 320GB hd for about £35.

The main selling point is the backwards compatibility so this is only the right choice for someone who wishes to play PS2 games, if not you might as well get the cheapest console possible then if required upgrade the HD yourself as it does not void warranty.

Hi,

Thats really **** man, sorry to read about that, hopefuly no damage was done to your property or any fittings and that the Insurance company covers you completely for this theft
#25
Insurance company have said chance of a payout is very low, the back door has a dodgy lock on it and someone had not locked it properly! Scientific police just left and no fingerprints were left, detective is here now but to be honest I doubt they will find anything.

Have people with their ears to the ground but depends who these c*unts try and sell this stuff to.

No lasting damage but all in all about £900 stolen from me (through items), £60 from my sis and irreplacable jewelery from my mum.

Thanks incredibly bad luck. Sorry to read of your misfortune. I suffered a break-in a few years ago (on Christmas Eve), and it's not the fact that your personal property has gone (as that can be replaced) it is the fact that somebody violated the place you are supposed to be the safest.

It was just people looking for something to fund a drug habit the Police concluded, as they just grabbed the first high value electrical item they could & got out. Fortunately no damage, and fortunately the christmas presents for our kids were left untouched.

On the positive side, you fortunately have documented evidence above (by way of the photo image) that you had the console so the insurance claim should just be form filling & waiting.

Did you record the serial number(s) of the consoles? If not, Sony must have recorded what they sent back to you.

If any appear back here on HotUKDeals in your area, I would ask for the console reference(s) & if you are at all suspicious let the Admin/Moderator team know so they can help with tracing the seller.

Hope everything is sorted out quickly.

Thanks for you post mate but the insurance company only cover if there are signs of forced entry which there are not. The financial impact hasn't hit me yet as my jaw is swollen due to a tooth out yesturday morning so I am drugged up, come tomorrow I will probaly crash land back to earth.

Although the detective was quite helpful I don't have any faith in the police in cases like this, I don't feel I will see this stuff, the money, or the culpritt again. The worst thing now is the paranoia that someone I know has done this as AFAIK our house was the only affected in our small remote village.

Once again thanks for all support and if you do hear/see anything suspicious I would like to know :)

Sounds like a pain in the neck, erm, mouth all 'round this week. Poor you.

My initial thought when I read your message about the theft (and no sign of a forced entry) was that if you hadn't let anybody know your exact location by "PM", then it was somebody you had told who was just larking about. Now that the Police are involved though, they will be less inclined to own up for fear of recriminations due to "wasting police time".

A tip here for anybody in the future...

You know the animal Identi-chip gadgets that you can ask your Vet to sew beneath the skin on the neck of your dog/cat/whatever?

You can always buy one & place it inside the casing of a console, or TV, or whatever, and then when you report the loss of said "pet" to the Identi-chip organisation, they can track where it is.

A call to your local constabulary can then point the orifices of the farce to the exact location of the stolen item.

Yes, please do let us know if anything happens with regards return or your claim.

Keep smiling though. Don't let the bugg3rs get you down.

It's going to be a case of not letting it get me down, had they come another day I might be in a worse position. Insurance company are getting involved today, payout is still very unlikely but not impossible now.

However if they pay out it will be like for like in which case I will probaly have 80GB PS3 rather than 60 :xBetter than nothing though.

Indeed, and you can always re-sell (to a more select audience) if you wish.

Fingers-crossed for you.

Insurance claim went off on Friday so we will see if they accept it or not. If they do accept it I suppose they will replace with 2 brand new 80GB models. I shall see but if they do replace them they will be sold on here

Thanks for taking the time to post a message. :)

You're very welcome.

If you do find that Sony find one (preferably, two) 60Gb consoles & you'd like to sell those on, I'm in the market for two at present.

Either way, hope the insurance claim is processed quickly for your sake.

Did you hear anything further from the police? (I suspect not, given my experience of a few losses over the years)

As usual the police said they would investigate further and did nothing. They were supposed to come back the next day to see us and our neighbours but they didn't bother.

If you want to keep in touch with me I shall let you know as soon as I hear any news regarding the insurance. If the claim is accepted I will request they contact Sony as I know Sony hold stocks of the 60GB model but no shops do.

Cheers

Got a call today and looks like the payout is being arranged now. As a result of this I have 2 brand new 80GB PS3s and a brand new Premium 360 coming. All three will be for sale as I have a second hand 60GB PS3 for myself which I bought faulty and repaired and a 360 I also repaired for myself.

For the sake of turning assets into cash I will probaly sell the 80GB consoles for £250 + delivery, these are sealed with full accessories and warranty. The 360 I want RRP but I will spoof the Lite-on drive with a samsung so it can play your backups, this will save you £70 odd. That will have full accessories and warranty, just need to restore the drive if you need to send it to M$.

Result!

£250 + delivery is a good price for an 80Gb PS3. You can buy a 40Gb model from HMV for £249.99 at present, and 80Gb machines seem to be around the £279/£280 mark elsewhere (due to the release of the 160Gb model last Friday at £339.99).

I'm sorted for the machines I need for Christmas now, so I'll not me pursuing a purchase of either, but I hope you have much better luck this time around :)
