I have recently been given a gift card for currys after my old TV went bang. The only problem is that the TV I want has just increased in price from £699 last weekend to £899 now. I can get it at the discounted price elsewhere but obviously cannot use my vouchers to buy it. Anyone looking at make a big purchase at currys?

Is it a regular gift card, or an 'insurance replacement' gift card. If it's the latter, you can't sell them on here.

Also, have you got a pic of it next to your username ?

have you asked them to price match?

Yeah no worries I can get a Pic up as soon as I get home.

In answer to the other question I am not sure. It is not a payout from their "whatever happens club" if thats what you mean. The TV was outside of warrenty, I didnt have any insurance on it but because it broke down to a manafacturing defect I argued it with them and they accepted liability and sent me this gift card.

would you considering posting first as you have low feedback and post count

I would be really interested in this!

Dont get me started on the price match. Went into my local store on saturday morning. Told them that Richer Sounds in the Southampton had 1 in stock at £670 ish. They said it was too far away for them to price match (it was only 8.4 miles away). I went to richer sounds and had a chat with them to see what surround sound systems they had. Went to a currys which was only about 2 miles away from the store who said they didnt have the TV in stock but they sent me back to the firts one. I went back to the first one who called up richer sounds who then confirmed the last TV had sold and so then currys wouldnt match the price as it wasnt in stock. I went mad but the manager was having none of it. Cant find it cheaper in stock anywhere else but obviously can get it cheaper online!

Thats my Rant over.

Hey Abz, think I might have dealt with you before on some PS3 stuff or maybe thats just coz I see you on here quite a bit. As its £699 I am a little reserved about sending first. I am however going to Alton Towers this weekend (Friday) and staying in Birmingham with my girlfriends sister. Could potentially meet up.

I have done a lot of PS3 dealings on here. But cant remember if i have or not dealt with you!

I might not be in town on the weekend. So maybe posting might be the only option

But let me work out how much the stuff i want to buy is going to cost me with 5% discount i could get. And then i will make an offer!

I wouldnt let it go for that Abz. Ive been told the TV I want goes up and down in price like a yo yo so worst case is that I have to WAIT for either the price to drop or richer sounds to get more stock in. Im just too impatient and want a new TV now.

Thanks Abz for that. i thought it was very harsh personally but didnt want to write back incase he decided it was then 4 Bumps!! It was only 40 mins since I had added it so it didnt even need 1 bump let alone 3!

Anyway back on topic. That TV is great Value. The issue is that its a Samsung as was my last one which went bang. I dealt with Samsung for ages trying to get them to sort the problem out and they were seriously useless so I dont want another samsung.

With regards to price it would really need to be close to the £660 mark. I would happily frop it more If theTV I want does not reduce in price over the next couple of weeks if your happy to hang on.

It's not harsh at all guys you are posting right after your last post,.... you should edit your posts rather than post again. Posting again bumps the thread up! there are 5 times in this thread that a consecutive post has been made by the same person... that's 5 extra bumps!

if its just a general insurance replacement card thats been issued, then it shouldnt have a name and address attached.
it'll be the same ones that insurance companies get from DSGi when someone claims off their house insurance.
the Whatever Happens stuff is always a personalised voucher either posted or emailed to you and CANNOT be used by anyone else or online.
as it must be handed over with a form of ID too.
