Hello,

Ive been on the hunt for an agp card to perk up my computer.

The thing is, I have no real way of telling them aprt,

im staring at specs, prices, postage - and just getting a headache.

My computer isnt too flash, a 2.8ghz celeron sporting a 4xAGP socket.

Id like to find the BEST card within £30 posted. Dont really want to spend more on my ageing PC than that.

Can anyone reccomend something? - Do you know of a special offer?

or perhaps shed light on whats better out of ATI/Radeon , and the makes like sapphire, peak, club etc etc?

Id be very happy to buy one of somebody in the forum too.

256mb ram preferred, unless its a high qualty 128 card.

hey man,

that seems alright that.

I think I could probably get a cheap fan of ledshoppe or something.

Is it just me or does the fan look enourmous though? - no sure if it will fit in my computer which is small form factor.

I also only have a 200w psu.

But yes, I am very interested.

If you could maybe find a link to a online shop/review site which has it - I could check out all the specs ( which connectons it has, 64/128bit etc etc), and maybe get a better idea of the size.

Also how long have you had it/how old is it?
And do you have the drivers & cables?

Much thanks.

Like I said very interested, so please get the info to me.

The fan is 20mm x 95mm, I've had it just over a year and am the 2nd owner.....there is no cables except the one on the fan, and would be best to download the latest drivers from ati.

This card does require a 4 pin molex connection so i dont know if your power supply could manage it.

#13
oh and is your cpu a lga 775 one? i could sort you out with a top of the range mobo for CHEAP
#14
their board is probably skt 478

thesku11s, I don't think your PC could handle the x800 xt PE as I have a 250w PSU in my Dell Dimension 4600 and this as seen as an under-rated PSU... as in it's probably a higher rating or a very good quality 250w and when I overclocked my x800 pro to xt PE speeds my pc would die... not crash but actually just nacker out almost instantly. I know it isn't the card as I tried it in my mates PC which has a 600w PSU and it was fine going over and above xt PE speeds so I don't think it would work.

I hear what your are saying, but its a biostar shuttle machine and in all the manuals ietc , it seems like it was designed to cope with the 200w supply.

I only have 1 optical drive, 1 x HDD, PCI is currently empty.

I think it could handle it maybe? Even with something in the pci.

For £30 posted I will have that.

I like the other card more But I dont have the spare molex power cable.

So if you can do £30 I will have it.
#18
the x1300xt will wipe the floor with the other card ....
its vista ready etc needs a spare power adapter (got one just like a link cable so you dont loose usage of a cable) but i could go as low as £32.50 (cost £70 3 months ago and is a rare card)
#19
Upto you skulls which one you want but if your worried about a spare molex connector you'll need one on either one of them. I will also throw in a spare double molex connector so you can connect it wothout the worry of losing one.
#20
both brilliant cards m8t if i didnt have 2 of these (was runing in crossfire mode before i bought my 7800gs) i would probally have the x800 ;)

but i cant come down to £30 sorry
#21
I upgraded the graphics card on my AGP 4x system. It was completely useless until I upgraded to AGP 8x.

What? X1300XT wipe the floor with the X800XT?
#23
Hey thanks both of you, I still havent decided between them but am going more toward welsh's simply because its more likely to fit!

Can I ask, do both require the extra power supply?

How much power does a card usually need?

Much thanks.
#24
They both will need an xtra power plug but as for how much power i'm not sure
#25
ran my x1300xt on a 220w psu with no worries what so ever then bought a 600w for the crossfire setup

just needs extra plug (supplied) comes boxed with sticker cd's and all the extra leads (never used)

(box says 330w) but i have played cs etc on it no worries

I have read the many reviews onsites like ebuyer, many people say they have run 8x cards in 4x slots with much success.

I dont expect to get the maximum out of the card but I know it will be a LOT better than the internal 32mb!
#27
anything will be better than the onboard 32mb
#28
4x slot is what i am using atm with a £150 gfx card OPS

lol trying to sort out a tidy mobo myself atm
#29
Sorry to disappoint anyone but i have given false information......Just pulled the heatsink off the graphics card and to my disappointment its a FX5900XT and not a n x800xt.
