i am fairly sure you dont need a licence for sea fishing.

No, you dont need a license to fish on the sea.

As for gear...

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0743295/Trail/searchtext%3ESEA+FISHING.htm

That will do you to start with, although if you want something better...

http://www.dragoncarpdirect.com/acatalog/DS481.html#aDS481

and this...

http://www.dragoncarpdirect.com/acatalog/DS500.html#aDS500

£25 for the two and £10 delivery, but far better than the Argos offering for just a little more.

I can vouch for the company as I have spent nearly £500 with them over the summer and just put an order in for another £200 today :)

Although DragonCarpDirect sell "cheaper" fishing gear, I have found on the whole that the majority of stuff is decent in the respect that they will last longer than you expect it to for the price. Granted the rods are not in the same vein of TotalFishingGear or the like, but they are more than adequate for second or even main rods. Their reels are simply amazing for the price, with the Eurorunner 500 having a much better balance and action than my £120 Shimano!

Ok ignore everyone here lol...go to Argos they have the best beginner sets from Kingfisher. You do not need a license for sea fishing only coarse fishing, this is because the boat you use if you proper sea fish will have a special license
