Anyone have a Netbook for sale?

I am looking for a netbook for my son to use in his college classes, it doesn't have to be in excellent cosmetic condition as long as it works properly.

If you have one that you don't use anymore or you know of one going for a cheap price please let me know. Rep will be left.

Thanks :~))

i'd advise you to have a look around ebay for the eee 701 on sale. they're going very cheaply these days, like sub 100, and if you're after it for only notes and stuff then that will probably do

Hope that helps :)

If your wanting to purchase one brand new, with warranty, there are a number of netbook deals on the go just now at HotUKDeals - if you need I can paste in links to them for you but also remember that for several of them you can get potential cashback via Quidco or TopCashBack.

Do you have any specific requirements? Have you taken your son to a nearby PC World or Currys so he can have a shot of the netbooks to see which one's best for him to use (especially with regards to typing)?

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Hi Scotty :)
He needs it mostly for typing up his notes etc in class, so word or something similar is a must, he also will use it for uploading his photos from his usb stick, so a decent amount of memory would be really good too, but obviously the more it can do the better :)
I would prefer to get a used one just because he is only 16 and has a huge tendency to drop things!

We have looked at a few to see about size etc but he just said to me
"mum, I text like a trojan on my mobile, so anything bigger than that will be class! :)

With regards to Microsoft Word, that won't unfortunately come bundled with the netbook so you'll need to purchase that (as a college student I think he can buy the Microsoft Office offer to students) or alternatively he could use OpenOffice instead, which is free of charge.

Most netbooks come with three USB ports as standard, so he'll be covered for that as one - problem is there aren't many used netbooks out there (only seen a few listed for sale on HotUKDeals but a lot more on eBay UK) but you could consider going down the route of purchasing a refurbished netbook from Dell UK's Outlet or purchasing a brand new one online (via some of the HotUKDeals).

Does he have a requirement for at least 160GB worth of disk space or he could get on with an 8GB worth's disk space?

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

I think 8gb is too small tbh, I am sure if I got an 8gb one is would be moaning in no time! :)

Ah, he's got to have everything on it then!!! ;-)

I'll hunt out some links to deals here on HotUKDeals and paste them in for you, to get an idea on what's available here.

You might also want to check out the Dell UK Outlet for the netbook deals they have over there (you'll need to sort the list by price) but note that the price shown does not include VAT and delivery costs (they'll get added towards the end of it).

Edit - Here's a couple for you to consider (all new for this edit) but note that some of the discount codes may have expired, so please bear that in mind. Also please note that I haven't added in the Samsung N130 Netbook deal links, as they appear to have all gone when I did a quick check out there for stock availability via Dixons, PC World, etc where the £20.00p refund was coming from but stock MIGHT come back - only question is when.

EXPIRED - Acer Netbook -AOA150-AB -Blue 120GB for £143.83 delivered @ Morgan Computers - HotUKDeals Forum
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/522436/acer-netbook-aoa150-ab-blue-120gb-f
Note - This one was expired because Morgan Computers was bought over; it is still trading but if you opted for this one you would need to consider purchasing Windows XP/7 for it but also it comes with a smaller screen as well (8.9" when compared to the other listed here).

Edit 2 - Listed below is the link to the Dell UK Outlet - it should should the Inspiron range of Netbooks and Laptop when you access the link. From here you should sort it by price and then the first one shown should be a Dell Mini 10v (an entry level model, which starts at £127.71p excluding VAT & delivery) - from there go to the next page and you'll see the next model up (which includes 160GB hard disk and Windows XP Home Edition) and start at £153.13p excluding VAT & delivery.

Note that for this one you can NOT get cashback I'm afraid from Quidco or TopCashBack.

eee900. Boxed with leather cover case.

In excellent condition. 20 Gb SSD (4+16) plus 8 Gb SD card.

2 Gb RAM (upgraded from 1 Gb)

Comes with Linux O/s.

£135 plus postage. No offers

Or for an extra £30 a genuine copy of XP (inc. Key) plus nlite XP disc for installing minimum edition of XP. Runs very well and quickly (nLite XP takes up less than 2 Gb) space.

Hi, I have seen one of these go on ebay for £100.00, granted it only only had 1gb ram, I would prefer windows but don't really want to pay £165.00, if you could do it for £135.00 with the nlite disc then I would be interested, otherwise its a bit too much, but thank you anyway :)

Couldn't do it for that price. It's got the 2 Gb RAM upgrade and the leather case (makes it look like a Filofax).

It's boxed, in black. As new with the foam screen protector. 8.9" screen

It works fine for me so I'm not going to give it away. XP on its own in £25-30 and the leather case is another £20.

Well thank you anyway, but what your asking is more than i have to spend .
