I don't think you should put ''cost £799 from amazon as new''.

They only cost £699 direct from Apple.

Is it my fault that you could have got it a £100 cheaper?
#4
Mine cost about £900 when I bought it direct from Apple Education.

That was a while back though. They've came down in price a lot now.

anybody who want's this and the ipod in my other thread will do both for £650

Am i right in thinking you are saying that this MacBook, is better than the lowest spec macBook on the Apple site?

If so, i can't see the difference in spec. Can you enlighten me.

Thanks
#12
when i got mine mine was the middle spec one the base had 512 ram and 60gb and a combo drive

comparing mine to the current base spec means mine has a superdrive not a combo drive you cannot spec a superdrive on the base model
the only way to get a superdrive is to pay £829 from apple or buy from amazon here http://www.amazon.co.uk/MacBook-White-2GHz-Intel-SuperDrive/dp/B000KJJZZW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1199453351&sr=8-1 for £799
#13
Ah, i see, because the spec you posted in the first posted lists a combo drive, not a superdrive

Sell this sharpish as your going to loose another £100 possibly more after macworld end of next week because that's when the new range are unveiled with bumped specs - bigger/better - Hard drive, Screen, Processor etc.

£500 is probably a fair offer considering.

Note to any buyers (I post this not to hinder your sale mini0ne):

There are two important differences between this mac and the current base model.

1) The newer macs are Santa Rosa based, with this came the ability to handle a max for 4GB memory and not the 2GB this version supports.

2) This mac has a GMA950 GPU, the newer macs have the new GMA X3100 which is actually a very good GPU considering.

Thought anyone looking to buy this should know :) The changes are not that obvious.

really even though 4 year old g3 macbooks still fetch £250+ mine is gonna fall by £100+ because it will be 2.2ghz instead of 2 :whistling:

you may wanna check here too... not too sure if specs are identical, but a LOT cheaper!

Again, not thread spoiling but just making sure you price appropriately!

no problem mate it's just getting a bit frustrating people trying to point out cheaper macs that are not the same spec .

my macbook was the midrange spec which currently costs £800-£825 albiet from 8 months ago

people posting links to the base spec macbook is misleading to potential buyers

i have looked on ebay and other forums and £600 delivered is a fair price for my spec macbook
im not desperate to sell i just dont use doubt it's been charged more than 10 times
i fancy another ps3 so thought id sell to fund one but im not gonna get bullied into selling cheap by missinformed users:whistling:

From the picture that looks like OSX Tiger to me, not Leopard.
#23
your not evwn interested in buying so why do you keep posting?
i only installed osx leopard yesterday the picture was taken a couple of days ago
i can take a picture running leopard with todays date if you like
#24
I was just making sure your description was accurate!
As you said before you just copy and pasted the spec!

Anyway good luck with the sale. Personally I think macbooks are great!

they are great but i have a new imac 20" this is way to good for very occasional web browsing!

i think installing leopard yesterday was the 1st time i'd ever used the dvd drive lol

i buy stuff on a whim and never use it hence selling my nearly new ipod cause i bought a touch at christmas and im about to list my hd-dvd player that ive watched the grand total of 5 films on since buying in october

This macbook isnt such a "big leap" - I have a 3 year old iBook that I use for note taking, it has a 60GB HD, Combo drive etc etc. Yes the processor in this is faster but as pointed out it even yours if falling someway behind a "new spec" macbook. You make the mistake of assuming because th processor is good then everything else is wonderful - take away the processor and the HD etc can all be compared to a late iBook or Powerbook.

Looking at the history of Apple hardware the ones next week will see huge bumps in HD size and these new ones will all come with superdrive - possibly upgraded to 16X write speed, unlike current 8X write speed as standard, well over 100GB HDD - could be solid state, better screen, power consumption, graphics card. Possibly even blu ray.

Its not all about processor 2Ghz to 2.2Ghz isnt a big difference (unless your talking about power consumption) like you point out but what chip I.E core duo and core 2 duo or other does make a big difference. Also this model has limited 2GB ram unlike newer models which support 4GB.

New macbooks always start at around £700 for the base, and considering that the newest base model macs always beat the previous high end model, then this spec macbook is going to be down the pecking order, and what for £100 more than yours you get warranty and a spec alot better than you are offering for your price.

:whistling:
#27
well the current base doesnt beat mine and mine is less than a year old.

discussing what isnt even available or even announced yet is pointless and misleading and nothing more than thread spoiling .
mine has warranty and as a long time mac user the upgrades at macworld wont be much because apple dont need to ramp up specs to sell which is exactly the reason a 4 or 5 year old apple laptop is still highly desirable whereas a 4 year old windows laptop is worth next to nothing .
btw 2gb is plenty for an apple leopard runs great on my g4 mini with 512mb for someone claiming to be a fan of apple products you should know osx isnt power hungry bloatware like vista!!!

thanks for your opinion though it's just a pity this is a for sale thread not general discussion :)

price reduced will leave untill 7pm then ill be advertising elswhere

Slightly incorrect.

The Core Duo MacBooks could only support 2gig Ram.

The later Core 2 Duo could support 3gig, and the latest core 2 duo with the santa rosa chipset can support 4gig

I would have bought this for my parents, but price too high for me. I bought my MacBook 3 weeks ago direct from apple refurbished store for £560. Same spec as this one without the Superdrive

without the superdrive is not the same spec mac2sell says my macbook is worth £640 and they average around £600 on ebay so i think £550 is fair enough it's still under warranty and has only been used a handfull of times
#32
going on ebay tonight at 6pm

will accept £550 including delivery

or £250 and a ps3 package

no other trades or offers will be considered
#33
Still got the macbook? I have a 60 GB ps3
