banned#4
I live in surrey.
banned#5
I maybe open to swaps but they will have to be very good
#6
You might want to state what size it is, even though priced as it is it's most likely the larger, it'd help.
banned#7
oh silly me i thought i had stated in the describition it is for the 8gb size iphone thanks,
#8
Will this work on the 3 network?
#9
If you read it, no.

"Like it says in the title i have a brand new apple iphone for sale all unlocked to any UK network except 3"

It's not a 3G phone.
#10
No mate!
banned#11
i am not sure there is a bit of confusion, maybe just in my mind, i have heard it wont but hopefully someone can prove me wrong that it can work on 3 network for you
#12
Forgive me, i read the title of the thread instead
Unlocked to any network
So, the title is misleading
As for 2g, i am running a FULLY unlocked nokia 6070, and guess what, that's a 2g phone........

sorry i have heard 2 sides to the unlocking that is it open to any network but some people have said it cant work on 3 but i am sure somewhere online will be able to tell easily

No, it's not a 3G phone so it won't work.
#15
Can u prove it is unlocked has a lot of people are saying that the the phone is very hard to get unlocked, and a lot of the tech sites on the internet are saying it will take a few months before someone hacks the software to be able it to work on any network

is it an import ? if so from what country has the only country i know that the phones cannot be locked to any network is france has it is against the law for them to do it there.
#16
You're reading the wrong sites then. It was unlocked ages ago and you can do it without using a PC now (apparently). But it's extremely easy (if you follow the steps) to unlock with a Mac or PC.

Yes, it has to be an import as it isn't out here yet.

This is a US phone which can be unlocked and proven online in many cases to be unlocked to any network here i am not here to scam or lie to people this iphone has been unlocked to any network this isnt a UK based phone as i would have to be a magician to of got my hands on one before the release date this 9th of the november

BUt looks like that other seller is a wholesaler as he tried to advertise another phone so not sure on his trust
#21
His trust is great if you have to collect the item and can check it out first hand.
#22
Thanks was just checking

would be a good idea if you said in your first post it was an U S import

why i was asking is that i have seen a few i apple phones in use myself has one of my friends works for O2 and is was one of the engineers beta testing it before release on nov 9th and told me not to buy an import has they have a different version of software to work in the uk
#23
You guys are mixing things up.

3G is a specific type of data transfer.

3 is a GSM network which has nothing really to do with 3G, except they do offer 3G services with compatible phones, as every other operator do.

Any unlocked iPhone will work with 3 the network. However, iPhones do not work with 3G, which is what I think you are confused with.

In summary: Yes, you can use this phone on the 3 network. ;)

Oh dear. Please, ignore this, this is completely fictional and not at all true.

3 is a 3G network, they use Orange as a sub-network for 2G when their own 3G network is not in range. 3 are called 3 because they were the first 3G network in the UK, that's why they have that name. They focused on 3G services from the very start. You need a specific technology inside a phone to allow a 3G SIM card to work on a 3G network, without it, most phones will just reject it and not let you use it at all. This is one of those phones.

So no, no iPhone will allow you to use the 3 network, you have no idea what you're going on about.

There are only US ones available right now, there isn't a need to update that.

Beta testers aren't allowed to sell them on, and of course they have different software versions, but that's no reason not to buy one unlocked from the US.

Thank you everyone for the details and information given

if you put a 3 sim in a 2g only phone like the iphone 3 will contact you and insist your sim is put in a 3g phone if you ignore there request they will ban your sim
#29
That's true of some phones, but not the iPhone. You simply can't use it at all in the iPhone, it won't work in the slightest.
#30
Sorry, but my OWN iPhone is on 3.
Go to a site like Hackint0sh and ask there if you seriously need further information. It works fine.

yes and sooner or later they will send a text isisting you insert the sim into a 3g phone if you ignore this warning they bar the sim

dont believe me if you like but i assure you your sim will get blocked:thumbsup:

I've tried it with mine and it doesn't work.

Some phones let you, but a lot don't. 3 aren't happy with people doing it, because they can't access the 3G services and the 3G network that they provide, so instead they're constantly going through Orange's 2G network, charging 3 more.

Glad that this thread is turning into a debate now but hopefully it will clear it up for everyone just to bring everyones attention back to:

Apple iphone for sale still!!!
#35
I would offer £200

I could go get one brand new tomorrow from 02 for £269, bring it home, not bother signing up to the tariff and then unlock it.
banned#36
I dont think its going to be as easy as that mate by just bringing it home and unlocking it i am sure they have figured or will figure a way within next few weeks to stop people just doing this as everyone would be doing this with all the normal contract phones i will be sure that you will have to sign up for a contract leaving all card details before they will hand you a phone out.
#37
dcx_badass
I think in the UK you have to take out the contract at the time of purchase. I think O2 are a bit more intelligent that their American counter parts.

We will see tomorrow.

No, you don't.
#39
Tbh, I want to get this on O2 contract but I wont straight away.

I am going to wait for a bit and see if price's drop at all or the tariffs change.

any chance someone can air their views on a new thread in misc? I'd be interested to ask a few questions to Hodson, etc but don't want to ruin ops thread...

Go make a thread with some questions and I will pass by and leave my mark.
