I am selling a new HTC Desire from O2.

It has been updated to the latest Froyo 2.2 update.

I will also be including a CaseMate case and 4GB Memory Card.

I am looking for £280 for the phone.

I will be adding pictures in a minute.

As far as I know it is unlocked, its been tested with both an O2 and Tesco sim.

That's correct.

I updated using the Generic HTC update, so is now unbranded.

Not correct!

If you bought this phone legitimately from an o2 shop on pay as you go, the phone itself would be branded with o2. Therefore, you could not have updated the phone to froyo 2.2 as o2 users do not get that till the 9th. So how did you get the update?

And updating using the HTC Generic Update (i.e. OTA Updates) DOES NOT unbrand the phone in anyway shape or form. It updates the network specific version of android on the phone. This update has nothing to do with unlocking or unbranding.

Erm please go away....

I have updated the phone using the generic update from HTC, which was not OTA (over the air). It was downloaded and placed on the memory card and updated.

And I have the receipt for the phone from O2.

So don't hijack my post when you don't know anything or even wish to buy the phone.

No, I am sorry that is not fair.

HTC Updates are always posted OTA and if this was not OTA then even if its an official HTC ROM, it hasn't been officially updated . Technically that's a rooted phone. Earlier someone asked you this, to which you said....

Seing as people are asking, I feel it is only fair that you answer their questions fairly and honestly. The man asked if it was officially updated to 2.2, but clearly since it was updated by putting a ROM onto the SD Card, it wasn't. I have no intention to "thread spoil" as you say, but it isn't fair to state illegitimate information with regards to a product people are buying. I see no problem with querying you on a misrepresented piece of information. That isn't thread spoiling. Thread spoiling would be to to say that you can get a better price elsewhere - but this is actually a very reasonable price.
HUKD is described as a community. In a community people look out for one another. I am looking out for other HUKD users here....

And also, seeing as I now own a desire, on o2, which is branded and not yet updated to 2.2 froyo - actually I think I do know what I'm talking about.

It has not been rooted, and its an official update that has been released to generic HTC Desires. Why don't you use Google. There is no misrepresentation, as I stated it has been updated with the generic firmware which it has.

If you root the phone it becomes void to warranty, this has NOT been rooted.

Now stop repeating yourself.

Plus get your facts right on what a rooted HTC Desire means and what it is used for.
#19
Right just to confirm ....

So you are saying (honestly) that you downloaded an official htc froyo update from a pc, put it onto an sd card, installed and then updated the device using this downloaded file (so it definitely wasn't an OTA Update) And that this process has also debranded the phone?

Yes, I can confirm that, but it was not on a PC but a MAC.

I would like to confirm AGAIN that I have not rooted the phone.

im bit confused with all this ,looking at both sides something just dont add up ,ive looked on the htc site and cant find the 2.2 update only the 2.1 ,also ive checked the o2 website and they dont list the htc desire payg only contract ,so if you have a reciept for payg then post the photo .

if you have used a custom rom then this will void the warrenty as its not been approved by o2 .

for buyers you need to backup your comments with hard proof otherwise it looks abit dodgy .

also it dont help you having low feedback .

My eBay account is: Darkl0rd69

Have sold high priced TVs, Laptops, Phones, and a Blu-Ray Player.

I will post up the receipt soon, as now it requires it.

I am not selling anything dodgy, just has now been made to believe it is.

This is where I got the update from:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667

If the buyer wants, I can return the phone back to O2 branded.

If anything else is required please let me know.

This was a brand new replacement from my first defective HTC Desire (within 28 days of purchase).

And is covered by 12 months warranty (well 11 months now, as its been sitting in a box).

Tried to sell on eBay but got loads of Nigerian scammers.

My gf had her contract O2 desire nabbed, would this work with a contract o2 sim?
And just for clarification sakes, the phone's still in "as new" condition (except for FroYo).
Also, how would you like payment,
Cheers,
Matt

It would work with any contract, as it's factory unlocked.

It's in brand new condition, only taken out to update, then placed back in the box.

There is no damage to either the phone or box.

Just posting another picture of the phones software versions, thought it might be helpful for some people.

Cool, thanks. I'll take it.

Can you pm me how you want to go about this,

Matt

Thanks,
My ebay user name is quembymp (though not that active there!), a message there too would be great.

If you could restore it to the original O2 firmware (I have FroYo on my Desire and would like a few more weeks lording it over the gf!).

Would prefer paypal for security sake,

Matt

Can you PM me your address and land line number.

There were no fees btw, so that's good.

The HTC Desire has now been sold to custardmonkey.
