If you have the receipt why don't you take it back to PC World? If you do sell it would I get the receipt so I could have the 12 month warranty in case of any probs?

Yes you could have the receipt .
How could I take it back if there`s nothing wrong with it?

Simple - explain you bought it as a gift for a family member but someone has also bought the same thing. Money back - simple. If it is unopened and sealed they will just give you a refund.

Sounds easy enough but I dont think that would work at pc world, maybe somewhere like argos.
Anyway I got pc world to price match (sainsbury)for £200, so not really worth the hassle of driving all the way up there in the snow, arguing I want a refund, then probaly having to drive back with the playstsation.

You would be surprised what can be achieved when quoting the consumer rights act, etc, can get you!! And believe me PC World are a lot more of a push-over than Argos!! Argos are the worst in the world.

Was just a thought anyway and could have saved you the hassle of selling it on here.

I am looking for another PS3 but £200 is my limit, sadly, otherwise I would have probably gone for this seeing as the warranty is covered.

Well thanks for the heads up on quoting consumer rights. Although to be honest I hate returning items even ones that are genuinely faulty, feels like I`m doing something wrong.Good luck on getting your ps3.
#35
No worries mate. Good luck if you take it back. If it is sealed then they can't can't refuse to give you your money back as it is less than a year from date of purchase.

Neither, or indeed any, high street retailer is required to refund your payment at all. If there is a fault with the originally purchased item the retailer is quite within their rights to exchange for a similar item. If a refund is requested, that will be at the discretion of their own policies, the Store Manager you speak to, or the original conditions of the sale. If you insist on returning the item, you will only be entitled to a credit note at the same retailer. There is no obligation to refund any, or all, of the original purchase price at all.

If an item is not fit for purpose (such as is not as described) then a refund can be expected (& must be given if requested).
