I'm selling a Studio XPS Laptop 1340 which has had water split over it (100ml approx). As a result of the spillage, it is now completely dead - won't switch on.

It's in mint condition - hardly used before 'the accident' - it's even still under warranty. However, the lack of ADW (accidental damage) means dell won't touch it. The service tag is JD1LFJ1, and you can check out the full spec using the following link:

http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/my_systems_info/en/details?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=gen

The only change from new is that I have taken out the hard drive since the spill (which incidentally works fine).

Main specs - P8600 processor and 4GB DDR3 1066 RAM (tested, working fine)

If there isn't much interest, any advice would be welcome (I work in IT so know my way around a laptop, I just have no idea of the extent of what would need replacing). Or I'm happy to run any tests etc and get back to you if you're interested in buying it

Most likely the motherboard will be fried, a nice epensive paper weight, the CPU depending on if water got to that to could be friend to, just looked on ebay and a new mobo will be around the £200 mark so if its mobo+CPU be looking at around £300+ for repair.

What exactly will be included in the sale?
Will the HDD if you format it?.
Im interested in it just not at your price for the time and effort repairing it i would buy new with the costs
