Have you tried your local RSPCA, Blue Cross, or similar organisation?

Hi
I thought of that but they are mostly older cats and they don't like to re-home them where there is a child under the age of 4 (my youngest is 3).
Thanks

Try looking at local newspapers classified sections, adverts in shop windows (Especially pet shops) also try asking the staff in the pet shops. Basically anything you can think of really.
Thats what I did recently and now Ive got a great little kitten.

we've just had kittens (half breeds) born a few days ago. theres 7 of them and we were going to give a few away. However you'd have to come all the way to oxford, probably not worth it.

you would also have to wait several weeks, as they havn't even opened their eyes yet.

Go to the following website - http://www.cats.org.uk/contact/findcp_stage2.asp?region=3

I got my cat from this centre. Basically they do a home check to make sure the cat will be ok. They then give you a call when a kitten is ready to be collected. Obviously you can make any number of trips to the centre until you find the kitten you want. I personally asked for a ginger and white cat once he was ready and I saw him I fell in love and took him home.

Btw they give you the kitten at 6 weeks old and they need a lot of care and attention. On the first day my cat just hid which is understandable.

They ask for a £30 deposit which includes a few vaccines and it makes sure you have a healthy cat. I managed to get a basket included at that price too.

Hope this helps...they seem to have two centres in surrey.

Check with the local vet they usually know if there are any kittens about also alot of people ask the vet to help rehome them
We had the same problem with the cats protection cos Ankle muncher is only 2 even though he's been around cats all his life

Thanks, I am very interested! Is there any good things to do with the kids near you? (i thought i could make a day of it them collect a kitten on the way back) My son would love it as he does'nt know i am going to get him a kitten. Do you have any photos of the kittens you will be re-homeing?

i had some kittens, had a couple on toast and the rest were used in a hotpot.

very nice.

try your local exchange and mart and local evening paper.
supermarkets are a great place also, hang around the kitten food section and wait for someone to get some kitten food, then ask them where they got theirs from. most people give them away, unless they are pure bred and a cat is a cat really, they go out, they **** everywhere and come home with a dead mouse.

try www.adtrader.co.uk

its that yellow newspaper style magazine, it sells in shops/newsagents for £160ish but all the adds are online and free to view.
But calling them can be expensive, I would recomend to call after 7pm so its definately offpeak. And if you find one you like ask for their landline number to save you calling the premium rate number (think its 30p ish a minute).

Thanks, hope you find one!

Try 'kittenlist'
I've just put some on there for my cousin - I think hes asking £40 though, but occasionally you find some free ones on there.

Also try gumtree - type in your area and gumtree into google as www.gumtree.com takes you straight to the London page. There are a few on there going cheap too.

Good luck, and post us a piccy when you find one
