  The ASRock remote only works with the USB receiver plugged into a front USB port with its front panel USB cable plugged into an ASRock motherboard CIR header.
  
  If you want a small generic USB IR receiver and remote you want to look at this:

  Thanks. I presumed as it had a dongle it would be compatable with any PC/Motherboard, Thanks for the link.
