Hi all,

I am regretfully selling my MR2, due to it being slightly impractical as I have two young'uns. I think my mid life crisis will have to be on hold. I have owned it for the last 8 moths or so and have thoroughly enjoyed driving in a car which I always wanted as a kid.

Don't get me wrong this car is NOT showroom condition, far from it. The bodywork has many blemishes, but it is over 20 years old!!!. Unfortunatley during the time I have had it I have been unable to attend to the bodywork issues as I had hoped. Inside the car is pretty darn good.

All electrics work and we have 12 MONTHS MOT!!!

See picture for the motor, be brill for someone to breathe a bit new life into her, she would look classy witht he old COMPOMOTIVE alloys reconditioned or a set of MR2/MX-5 alloys from ebay on her.

An appreciating classic if someone could give her a little TLC. Not many of these left on our roads.

Viewings most welcome in B78 area of TAMWORTH, just 1 mile from M42 J10.

Ta

Chris

Pics please

I'm very interested, but would like to know how bad the body work is. This is my dream car lol
#3
Wil try to get some pics up asap so please check back

The body work is OK, at a glance you do not really notice it. But the rear arches have been done in the past as they do prone to rot. so you can notice the filler under the re-spray. I am no expert but where the respray has commenced, I would say they matched the colour quite well and did an ok job. Like I say it is only when you get close you start to see the scars etc. The body isn't about to fall off as it passed it's mot only needing brakes.

It could do with someone who knows what they are doing to touch it up.

Like you I always wanted one. Bought it 8 months ago and have loved cruising in it. I didn't particularly care she wisn't showrrom as people can't see when you overtake them. And oh man, can she overtake....

Forgot to mention there is a slight leak of oil from the rocker cover gasket, which I was told would be approx £30 to replace by my local mechanic. Just haven't got round to sorting it.

If you want to view PM me....

Seats OK bit of wear on the lumbar of the drivers from getting in and out and I think a burn on the passenger seat. But generally, consideringthe age, the interior is sound.

Was thinking fleabay, but I really want her gone asap as I need a bigger car this week. Would consider PX for a good Fiat Punto :)

whats your insurance like on this?
#9
I am 25 and I got fully comp along with my 24 yr old wife for £350 with Done Deal. This was one of the other reasons I bought it because I found that the insurance was kinda cheap considering it's power. Any other similar cars quoted loads more. Run the reg through confused.com and see what yours'd be!!!

They didn't make a "good" Punto:w00t:

What mileage is on it and what sort of history have you got?

Any smoke from cold?

I might come over and have a look tommorow if that's ok?
#11
oops forgot mileage, wasn't on purpose honest... it is low for the year.... 96k I have all MOTS since new,... I think? I need to check but sure they're all there.

You are welcome to view, what time would suit you? I can PM address to you?

Don't expect showroom though, this car is in average condition for year, showing signs of age. I do think it could be something more with a bit of elbow grease and a hundred quid or so... Or it will be fine to just roll around in for twelve months, but the rocker cover gasket should be done as well as the engine bay cleaned as the leaked oil does whiff a little after a long run.

No smoke on start up!!!

as requested....

the reason the spare 'original' toyota wheel is on the front is that the one that was on had lost pressure and was swapped by the MOT tester. I have yet to take this back to the tyre place where I had the tyre put on beforehand. All tyres have loads of life left.

Sorry, I've decided against it, I really must finish the 2 projects I have on the go, and if I come and have a look I know I'll probably just end up buying it.

Good luck with the sale.

Surely that is what I want and YOU REALLY want. Of course you have time to have another on the go. This one is practical, you can drive it to work and have a go at it on your lunch break

Nah worries dude, you know where I am if you change your mind. Just giving it a good clean now and it is coming up a treat!!

Might be a good idea to edit out the mobile number and pm it to interested people, I see a mod removed it last time.
