would you consider seling the usb adaptor separately? and silly question but will this work the same as a wireless adaptor or does it only pick up wifi?

I might later if no luck on selling the bundle. Be aware its 802.11b only and doesnt support WPA encryption - only WEP.

I dont know what this means lol. i just need to run my broadband from my router to my computer

ahh if only it were that simple

depending on when your router was bought/installed, it may be 11b or 11g, and it may be configured for WEP secuirty or WPA security or WPA2 security).

I'd hate to sell this to you and get the wrong one. fo you have anything already connected to it wirelessly ? If you do then yu can "view available wireless networks" under windows and it should tell you what kind of security is being used...

lol im a novice, it hasnt got any security at the mo, and its 11g

Phanco,

I'm not interested in buying but just a quick note to say that this is the first post I have seen here in which a seller has been honest with the sale items, not deliberately withholding apposite information, not used tabloid style over-embellishment with 15 exclamation marks (uggh) and offer a fair price. The attitudes of certain sellers here and their arrogant defence of their high prices and misrepresentation has put me off but hats off to you for being to the point and being fair with the price. I hope your sale proceeds smoothly.

ClareLouise,

The USB wifi that Phanco supplies with the router/switch should work with your existing router/switch because most 802.11g devices provide backward compatibility with 802.11b and WEP encryption. Theoretically, ALL 802.11g devices are backwardly compatible with 802.11b in accordance with IEEE standards.

Thanks for the support !

Your correct it would probably work from and 802.11 perspective, but an 11g router is more than likely using WPA at least so would not work.
