HTC Magic - For Trade.

I have a HTC Magic and personally love it (got it a couple of days ago, its fantastic). So purchase another one for my Wife - unfortunately shes pretty set in her ways and has gone back to her Nokia 5800.

So i'm looking to trade the HTC Magic for an iPhone 3G - see if she'll get on with that any better.

I'm willing to put some cash on top for an iPhone 3G

Details of phone:

- Unlocked
- Rooted (Can put a Sense UI ROM on for you if you wish)
- Fully Boxed (Including headphones)
- 16GB Memory Card
- Condition speaks for itself, very good (See pics below)

Priced at £150

Hey, sorry but how did you root it? I've been trying to find out how for ages and I can't find any guides on the net.

Thanks

i rooted my G1 using youtube tutorials, search itsandroidsworld and you should find a good tutorial there

running a hero interface on a G1 or magic is awesome BTW, if you fancy going down that route i suggest MoDaCo 1.5 or higher, its the fastest and most stable i have used

Bump 1

Yeah as above - HTC Hero / Sense UI ROMs on the HTC Magic are fantastic - personally i prefer the standard look though. Feels less complicated.

Just be aware - if you're rooting - be very careful. It's easy to brick your phone if not, follow instructions closely. Once it's rooted through you're fine - can flash any ROM you wish after that.

spritey, could you please provide proof of purchase price for this item just to clarify a matter. If you could send proof via the report button http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/images/custom_buttons/report.gif (purchase receipt, printscreen of order etc). Thanks.

* Thank you for the additional info, thread unlocked & good luck with the sale.

How do these compare bto the hd2? My wife has one and its very nice and so fast. I know this wont be same as its android and the other windows.

I like the sense pinch action etc. Is this capable of that? Also how old is it, second, third hand etc and any proof of warranty?

Well i actually sold my HTC HD2 and bought the HTC Magic instead - i personally love Android over Windows Mobile. Such a move up in stability - choice of apps and general ease of use.

Only reason my wife doesn't want the one i bought her, is she is to used to her Nokia 5800 to change.. She likes to use the little plectum stylus thing for typing.

The HTC Magic will do pretty much everything with a Sense UI ROM that a HTC Hero will - The HTC Magic and HTC Hero are incredibley close spec wise, apart from a 3.2mp camera instead of 5mp and a little bit less RAM.. They're very much the same - so is why it's suited to HTC Hero Sense UI ROMs.

Infact - if you have a HTC Magic from say Canada on Rogers - you get the HTC Sense UI upgrade officially from HTC on there website.. It's just the ones "With Google" like this version don't get it due to Google. Same reason why Nexus One has standard look Android and HTC Desire has sense UI. So you need to root and flash the ROM on instead. But as said - that's already all done on this one and at request will happily add a Sense UI ROM on it for you :).

I bought it second hand - no proof of warranty but does come with the warranty booklet itself.

Condition wise though - i took pictures with my DSLR camera with the flash on to show the condition of the phone.. As you can see, it's in excellent condition.

It is tempting and usually I dont get on with touch screen mobiles but they have moved on now. I use a nokia 2730 at the mo but after setting the wifes up and hardspl etc I got a feel for it and found the windows ok but I would not need windows.

I usually hate branded phones too and white is not something I would go for.

Whats your best price? Just seen on go one another forum unlocked and rooted for £105 inc delivery.

Well that may have been the one i bought on avforums for £105 you're referring to :).

That wasn't rooted - plus the condition was quite a way away from the condition of this one.

I'm afraid i'm gonna stick at £150 inc RMSD - which is what i paid for it. I mean if you can find a HTC Magic, rooted, boxed (With all bits), excellent condition with a 16GB memory card for under that price.. Go for it, having seen what ones in great condition go for i'm not going to drop the price.

Just a bit of advice tho mate - if you buy one from somewhere else.. Make sure it's already rooted.. Rooting a HTC Magic is allot more complicated than HardSPL on a Windows phone.. Very easy to brick a HTC Magic if you don't do it carefully and properly. So many horror stories on xda developers of bricked HTC Magics. Took me a good few hours of research before i rooted the two we've got. Plus i was lucky than the two we have - have got fastboot versions that don't need to be changed. On some you need to flash the SPL. Which really is a huge pain.

Thanks :)

I will leave it then as more than I want to pay especially knowing I may not like it. If I can sell my ppc with built in tomtom and this phone I may consider but otherwise I am out for now as I hate paying too much money for something that has no warranty. Good luck:thumbsup:

That's fine mate :) - Looking at the price other ones have sold for with excellent condition with the same bits. It's pretty spot on price wise. Can't see myself coming down from that until i see some sell on here or elsewhere in similar state for less.

I'm more looking for a trade for an iPhone 3G plus me add cash though.

Yerp - it's completely unlocked.. So fine with your O2 sim.

Rooted is essentially the same as jailbreaking yeah - so you'll be able to flash custom ROMs - themes - install naughty apps... Although majority of Android apps are free.

Flashing is a doddle to.. Simple as

- "Hold home button + power on" (This boots into recovery app)
- Format ya partition (Just an option to do that)
- Select option to install the custom ROM from ya SD card

Bobs ya uncles..
