This is a brilliant card with 320 unified shaders as well as 512MB of GDDR3 RAM. Its one of the best mid range cards for the money you pay for it. It comes with preinstalled fan from Powercolor and keep the card very cool. In addition, the PCS version is an overclocked version giving an additional 7.5% over other HD 3850s.

This is the card

http://www.powercolor.com/Global/products_features.asp?ProductID=1635

Core Clock - 720mhz
Memory Clock - 2 x 900mhz

The cheapest I can find is this

for £88 + delivery.

My price is £70 delivered.

Hi, what kind of improvement would this be over a 1gb 8500gt? bought a quad core system and it came with it (really lets the system down!)

Itd be night and day mate. Let me get you an example.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/graphics-cards/3dmark06-v1-0-2-hdr-sm3-0-score,538.html

Pick the 8500GT (not SLI) and the HD3850. Please remember that the HD3850 they have in this chart only has 256MB and has a clock speed of 668mhz. So mine will be more than 10% better than the hd3850 they have there. Pick whichever benchmark you want.

Also, please remember that 1GB of GDDR your 8500gt doesnt actually provide any benefit from the 512mb 8500gt because its such a low end card.

Hello again, right, pretty much done my research, interested in buying as straight upgrade (was going to look at sli setup with the 8500 but pointless really . . .)

As item is used would you consider £60 via paypal for the card? if you are with Barclays would possibly consider BT . . . .

I can do £64 via bank transfer or paypal where you pay fees. Thats the lowest I can go im afraid.

Since you have good feedback, I can ship the item on production of a screenshot of the bank transfer. In case you want the item quickly.

I'm torn between this card and buying a 7900gtx 512mb that someone has on here as an interim choice until the new ati/nvidia cards are released and the 8800's drop a bit . . . .

Sorry to be so indecisive m8
