Extreme Gaming PC For Sale

Here for sale is my old gaming pc. Me calling it "old" doesn't mean it's out of date-it's only about 10 months old and will still handle all the latest games smoothly with no problem at all. But still up for sale as I've got a new love. Yeah I am one of those nuts who change their PCs every couple of months.

Couple of pictures:

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x294/shenhua1030/IMG_0555.jpg
Any way, here is what I've got:

[* AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ Dual Core Processor with brand new stock cooler.
I used a Akasa EVO120 with it but transfered it to my new pc, so the never-used stock HSF is fitted here.
[* Abit KN8-SLi mobo with heat pipe cooling

[* 2GB (1GBx2) DDR400 PC3200 Dual-Channel Memory
(Yes it's a Socket 939 platform, not AM2. But how much difference is there anyway? You wouldn't feel a thing in the daily use)
[* Powercolor Radeon X1950 Pro Extreme PCI-e 256MB with Silent Cooler GFX card
http://www.powercolor.com/eng/products_speci.asp?ProductID=515http://www.powercolor.com/eng/products_speci.asp?ProductID=515
[* Samsung 160GB SATA II 8MB Cache HDD
[* DVD/CD-RW Combo
Again I pulled out the DVD writer for new PC
[* ThermalTake Tsunami aluminum gaming case
http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Chassis/midtower/tsunami/bwa/bwa.asphttp://www.thermaltake.com/product/Chassis/midtower/tsunami/bwa/bwa.asp
[* Q-tech 550W ATX Power Supply Unit

The whole system is in pretty good condition and full working order. Sorry about the mess inside the case though. I just can't be bothered to sort it out after spending whole afternoon wiring my new PC. It doesn't come with any OS despite that I have installed a XP Pro SP2 which is just to show the PC is working fine.

If you know about building a PC you'll definitely appreciate the top quality components I used. I have seen worse on here for 300 so I am thinking £350? Or just make me a reasonable offer and we'll see how it goes.

TBH, I don't really think it's a good idea to put a ready-built PC on post as the components may get damaged, especially the HDD. So it's better to collect in person or I can deliver in local area. (I am in Aberdeen btw. You are welcome to come and see it up running). But I am more than happy to post if you are ok with it. That will be £20 due to the weight.

EDIT: If you want me to post, I can take off the HDD and pack it carefully in a seperate box so it won't get damaged. Apart from that, everything else should be fine once they are all secured in place.

Nice PC, just the chip is a little 'average' for a gaming PC IMO. I have an x2 4300+ in my Dell Dimension. What is the 3800+, 2.0ghz?
Not trying to diss the sale, it's a good price for the box. I'm just wondering why you went with the 3800+ in a gaming box is all :)

Sorry, just realized it's 10 months old LOL
I'll prepare for the deserved flames ;-)

Yeah, it's a bit 'boy racer' isn't it? A bit 'weh hay!!!' LOL
I like it personally. All it needs is an Alien head logo now.
That fan looks like the one in Total Recall.

not 1 bit the x2 3800 is more than good enough to run latest games

After revising his spec, that's a pretty good price for the spec you get and it's in good nic so if someones looking for a gaming PC I can so this will do you fine for the latest games out. However for DX10 games which are the future then your gonna need a DX10 graphics card. Aside that the graphics card is a good graphics card and it can handle what he says it can.

I think 350 is a good price, and 300 would be a steal. good luck, shame i already have a pc of equivilant standards!

Is that side panel original? or did you add it on after?

Aha I knew somebody would bring it up. It's not like I couldn't afford a 4200+ at that time.I chose a 3800+ for a reason.
I don't know how much do you know about overclocking. As far as I know, the chip producers don't have a seperate product line for every single model they make. That't not cost-effective, and because of the natural fact of the material, they can't guarantee all the products from the same line have the same quality. So what they do is classify all the processors from a same product line into different range. The good ones are marked at higher frequency, the not-as-good ones are marked at lower frequency. What I am saying is, in the example of AMD X2, the 3800+s,4000+s and 4200+s(probably even 4400+s) are all from the same line. So they all have pretty much the same overclocking headroom. The 3800+s are marked as what they are just because that's frequency they are most stable when working with a stock cooler. And when you are using better cooling, they will overclock as hell! That's right 3800+s work @ 1.8G by default, but almost every 3800+ can overclock to 2.5G and some what we call "golden" ones can even reach 3G, if not higher. That's pretty much what 4200+s can do, even though their default is 2.2G. That's why I always go for the lowest one of the range. Hope that's all understandable. My English isn't really good.

Cheers mate.
Talking about DX10, IMHO,Nvidia 8 series and ATi 2XXX series are not proper DX10 card. More like a transition I would say. If you are really looking forward to decent DX10 gaming experience, Nvidia 9 series will be what you want

If you click in the link under the case description, you will see that is what it came with.

Oh yeah, I understand the overclocking thing. What you said makes perfect sense. My preference is just to go to the top end of the chip range when buying a PC. I'd rather have a lean running 4400 than a super hot 3800 ;-)
Besides, Dells cant be overclocked. The bios multiplier settings are locked out.
I know what you mean though. If you have the audacity to run a 1.8ghz at a stable 2.5ghz with cooling, then good for you :)
Good luck with the sale.

So, has this been overclocked? You make it sound like it has, which might put some people off the sale as it generally reduces component lifespan, so you might as well let people know what speed you got it too...

I am not gonna hide the fact that it's been overclocked. It worked at 2.25G (250MHzx9,without shifting the core voltage) in daily use, equivalent to a X2 4200+. It did manage to hit 2.7G(300MHzx9 at 1.5V) in a test though. But 250MHz is the highest my ram can go and I prefer the processor and ram to work at same speed. There is hardly a temperature raise after overclocking. 36 idle & 48 loaded is good enough to beat the stock cooler at default speed. It's all back to default now btw since I took the terrific cooler away. Hope that helps.

overclocking does not reduce the lifespan as much as people may think. a cpu is good for 15-20 years and if you overclock then you only lose about 5 years of that. i mean, whos gonna keep the same pc for 10 years?!
the important thing is keeping the temps down and i think anyone reading this thread can tell that HutcheonS knows his stuff.
good spec and good price, i would always get something like this than a dell or some other generic, mass produced pc.
#22
If I had not bought the Dell, i'd be seriously considering this. But I did buy the Dell :)
I am happy with the purchase though, now all the OEM rubbish software has been uninstalled.

:-D :-D You know what, mate? If you did buy the 2900XT off me, I wouldn't be selling this PC here. Remember I told you the 2900XT wouldn't fit into the Tsunami when I had 4 HDDs? Since the gfx card was not sold, I decided to keep it and get a bigger case. So I got a Tt Eureka, which triggers the desire to get a whole new PC. And now you know what happened

oh, errrm... sorry?
im the same though, try to do one simple upgrade and end up doing a whole the system!:w00t:
