Reseting VGA Resolution on the XBox 360 – Solution 1

* HOLD D-Pad RIGHT until blade selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds (You are now at System Blade)
* HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
* PRESS A (You are now in Console Settings)
* HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
* PRESS A (You are now in Display)
* HOLD D-Pad DOWN until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
* PRESS A (You are now in Screen Format - If you get a "bonk" sound, skip next 2 steps)
* HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
* PRESS A (You have just selected NORMAL Screen Format and have returned to Display)
* HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
* PRESS A (You are now in Screen Resolution)
* HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
* PRESS A (You have just selected 640 x 480)

After doing this, you should be able to see the video.

Or if not, you can optionally try this.

Reseting VGA Resolution on the XBox 360 – Solution 2

* Boot up your console and wait until it is fully loaded (wait at least 10 seconds).
* After the boot up process, press the left stick (color blue) for 3 seconds to the Right. You’ll enter the “System” menu.
* Click on the A-Button once. You have now selected the point “Console Settings” and you’re inside the console settings and the highlight is on “Display”.
* Now press your left stick (color blue) Up (3 or 4 times, just to be sure).
* You should press the A-Button once again.
* In this menu, press the left stick up at least four times and click the A-Button.
* You should now see this message and you can confirm it with “Yes, keep these settings”.

This will reset Xbox 360 resolution to minimum. Your next step should be setting the resolution to the optimum.

or could be faulty GPU?

I'll offer £40 if console is in good condition and everything did work fine before the black screen.
