F/S Talex Lite GPS Speed Camera Detector £25.00

No longer required as my sat nav has this function built in,save yourself some points and fines, this lil gadget sits on the dash and gives visual and audible warnings.
This is a Talex lite detector that gives a voice instruction when you are approaching a camera and a more urgent instruction if you are approaching a camera and are over the speed limit. It can also warn of accident black spots if you want.
The unit displays the cars speed as youre driving.

I dont have the box anymore but this comes with the instruction manual, ciggy lighter lead and magnetic mount (that has been removed from my dash so may need a new sticky backing put on it to reattach)

Whats the position with updates (have they expired and how much to renew)
and how do you update it, does it come with USB ??
#6
just waiting for camera batteries to charge,Pre loaded with a comprehensive camera database and you can choose to update via usb with an additional subscription service although i never have as the database it has i found to be very accurate and it never missed a speed camera alert for me! so no ongoing charges unless you want to update at an extra cost
usb cable not included i think it may come as part of the additional subscription package

Is this a radar/IR detector type or is it just preloaded with preset locations?
If it is the latter, how does it know where the 'mobile' camera locations are?
Detectors are great but prohibited by law, and the presets are susceptible to not having a clue where mobile detection units are deployed on a daily basis.

Does not explain this on the Talex website.

(Edit) Can see it now - its a preloaded database linked to GPS .
Bear in mind that static mobile detection units normally give a few days notice but laser guns can be used ad hoc, and with the advent of Spex, especially on motorways, it's average speed which is measured.
Looks a canny bit of kit.

from the manual it states.....
As the vehicle approaches a fixed, mobile, red light or specs site, the general prinicples of operation are the same, the talex lite unit will make an initial announcement indicating the type of camera site, the speed limit and distance to the camera site ahead.

I know its saved me a few points lol
