No. Bids should not be above the asking price, nor should the OP consider accepting them as part of this thread.

I thought that offers above asking price were allowed, and that what isn't allowed is when people list an item with no selling price and then ask people to bid for it.

No offer has been accepted either way so it is it up to the seller to decide? If there is a problem a moderator would step in to rectify it.

Also the original price of asking was £50

No offers above asking price are allowed, neither are listings without prices.

Whilst no offer has been accepted yet, please do not offer above the revised asking price as clearly stated in the thread.

i cant seem to find the rules on what offers a seller can and cannot accept, if my bid of £42 is in anyway illegal then i will make a new bid for asking price of £40 which matches that made by Archer1204.

I believe i have seen situations where there have been multiple offers for asking price and that it is up to the seller to choose which one to accept based on circumstances they deem necessary (paymant method that suits seller, feedback ratings, membership length, etc, etc)

missposty - for clarification in case you cant work out what has happened here this evening...
(it is unclear reading through the postings - one of which has been deleted making it all seem confsing)
i made an offer for this boxset that was above your £40 asking price (i was unaware that this was naughty).
I have now made an offer of £40.
My circumstance is that my paypal account is experiencing problems at the moment and I would be interested in paying by personal cheque that i could send to you first and allow you to cash before sending any item out to me (i am not in any hurry to receive the item)

It is up to you what happens now.

Ok i just wanted clarification on the rules both myself and jason have bid 40 pounds and its upto the seller to decide who buys it unless anyone else wants to bid an equal amount.

Just logged on and obviously missed something last night. I will accept the offer from Archer 1204 as thats who appears to have offered the £40 first. Jason Mason seems to have offered £36 prior. Pm sent to Archer 1204.

If the deal goes bad (it happens!) then consider me first.
