Faulty Ipod Video 5.5G 30GB £25.00

My ipod video has just died. I think its a battery issue because lately, its not been holding much charge and now it wont start up so am selling this as FAULTY. Might be a quick fix for those in the know.

Its got an invisible shield on it since I first took it out of its box so its completely scratch free! No accessories included and item will be sent via 2nd class recorded delivery included in the price.

Cheers!

OP's mailbox is full so I can't contact him.

Ipod has been opened, case will not shut. Inside is a mess.

Hardly consistent with a 'battery needs replacing' description.

Mods have been contacted and feedback will be left.

Looks like they had a go at fixing and failed miserably! Clearly this should have been stated at the time...

Hope u get this resolved

Still no response from the OP -mailbox is full so I cannot send a PM. The mods are now taking an interest..

First time I've traded here - it looks like I've been stung!

If it's not boring everyone, I'll keep this thread updated.

Toybhoy could you please get in touch with oyur buyer as a matter of urgency to resolve this outstanding feedback issue & please do not engage in any further trades until the matter is resolved.

Hey. Sorry didnt realise that my inbox was full.

I just want to say that I have NEVER opened this ipod (I dont even know how!)

Anyways, am really reluctant to refund as I did state in big capital letters up there that it was sold as FAULTY hence the low low price. Can a mod take a decision on this?

I state again that I have never opened this and sold as faulty and at the price accordingly for a faulty ipod. I said it might be a quick fix but did not say that it IS a quick fix hence my price again.

I'm not here to rip anyone off, look at my feedback!!

How do I know that the buyer didnt open it, realise he can't fix it and wants his money back? Cos I know I have never opened it

Why did you send this acouple of days ago?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by butchered inside but I have never opened it before.

If you want your money back, send me it back and I'll refund you. Its only £25 so am not really bothered about it but I can assure you I have never opened it. Dont even know how, hence why I sold it rather than trying to fix it.

The two parts of the case in the top left hand corner do not fit together, so the case easily comes apart. Of course I've opened it, you stated that the battery needed replacing so the case must be opened. It's just that this one was three parts open already!

As for opening it and causing damage myself, well, why would I damage something I was trying to fix? This is an easy (and obvious) allegation)to make. Untrue as it turns out.

I know that I have never opened it before. I didnt "state" that it was definitely a battery issue. I explained the that the battery was getting shorter and shorter then it wouldnt switch on.

If you read above in the original post, I said "I THINK its a battery issue" but I said I was selling it as FAULTY and even put capital letters there to emphasize it.

As I explained in the following PMs to you that I had thought about the refund and dont see why I should as I stated exactly that it was a faulty ipod hence the price. I will again say that I have NEVER opened it before which makes me think that if I get it back in a worst condition than I sent it in, then I might not be able to resell it again.

So where do we go from here?

On other forums, the mods make a decision that everyone abides by.

The more I look into this the angrier I get.

I enclose a photo showing broken tabs on the ipod casing. The ipod has been opened previously with some force, breaking at least one of the tabs.

You may not have opened the ipod - but it has been opened by someone. Saying that it may have a battery fault is plain dishonest. Your game plan was to offload this rubbish on some poor sap (in this case me) and get £25 for your time.

Let me put it to you that you acquired this (in some way) claimed it worked (I'm sure it never has) and then offloaded it.

The mods really do have to intervene in this.

Toybhoy, can I ask you to explain the photograph?
#25
How can I explain?

Like I said, I have NEVER opened it. So I wouldnt have seen anything inside of it.

Now how do I know YOU didnt break it??? I think we're going round and round here. I sold this item as faulty and sold it at the price accordingly. I will once again say that I have never opened it but it was sold as faulty anyways and I dont know if you had broken it.

I dont know what the rules are around this but my feedback here is 100% and have been a member for ages with very high rep so I know am not around to rip people off. Perhaps a mod can help clear this up now.

Ipod videos have six screws that secure the front to the main carcass. These have to be removed with a watchmakers screwdriver (believe me I know what I'm talking about)

What you see in the photo is the hole through which one of the screws pass. It is also missing.

Ipod videos have a technique to opening them and do not open very easily. You have to be careful to not damage the screen and plastic surround.

The one that you sent me can be opened by sliding your thumbnail around it and the whole thing pulls apart and the click wheels falls off.

You say this once worked - frankly I do not believe you. In this state the ipod would have fallen apart in your pocket.

Your assertion that I damaged it is absurd. To cause this amount of damage I would have needed to use an 8" screwdriver to open it.

You say in your last post that you're willing to let the mods decide. If you abide by their decison then so am I. Is this an offer?

You appear to be a con artist who in the first instance sells rubbish, offers to refund, then changes their mind and then blames the buyer for 'causing the damage', all the time hiding behind their feedback score. OK it was sold as faulty with the qualifier that it may be the battery (it isn't), but this qualifies as a pile of scrap. Even the case is useless as the plastic lugs have broken off. I guess I will sell it on eBay with a full and honest description. Might get a fiver if I'm lucky

Again, if you are willing to abide by the mods decision, then so am I.

Over to you MODS.

Please resolve this issue between yourselves and leave the appropriate feedback.

We cannot be present when an item is offered, sent or received by either person involved in the trade. Unfortunately this also means the condition of the item is unknown to us and can only be dependant on photographic images before and after the trade has taken place.

1) The iPod Video was sold as 'faulty' with a 'possible' battery problem.

2) No images were requested before the trade showing close ups of the condition and therefore we have nothing to compare the 'after' images to.

3) Seller did offer a full refund which was then retracted due to the description stating it was 'faulty', 'not now powering up' and 'might or might not be repairable'.

4) Buyer's images show that after having to open it up (due to it being faulty obviously had to do that), it's a mess inside with broken tabs (could have happened whilst opening), now possibly not any use to anyone.

For a resolution:

Perhaps a refund for at least half the cost of the item, as it was described as faulty and it's disputable of who could have caused the damage to it.

Or

That a full refund is given and the item returned to the seller with postage paid.

In either case, fair and honest FS feedback should be left to reflect your opinion of how the trade went.
Thanks, thread now expired and closed.

Thread intentionally bumped.

It seems the buyer has since been banned as having multiple accounts and having reverted back to the original account, now has a clean slate, whilst the seller is carrying the negative. There is an obvious imbalance here, therefore I'm inviting both buyer and seller to post again in this thread in order that feedback can be left against the live account.
#30
obviously not my business and this'll get deleted if you feel the need but why should the buyer have to carry a negative feedback? he's already £25 out which wasnt refunded and has got an ipod which is no good!
his feedback was obviously only retaliatory, the seller didnt lose out on anything
