For Sale - Brand New - Nokia N96 £250.00

I got my contract upgrade last week from Vodafone but I really can't afford to keep it so unfortunately it has to go. It's a Nokia N96 handset, brand spanking new in the box. It has been used for approx 3 days to test it's features and confirm it works. To tell you the truth I'm gutted I have to part with it but finances are tight. My loss is your gain though as these babies retain for absolutely extortionate prices sim-free.

I'm sure if you're looking at this listing then you know what the phone has to offer but I must say in particular that I am blown away by the GPS capabilities of this phone compared to my old Nokia 6110 navigator.
Further product detail can be found here - http://europe.nokia.com/A41466357

You will receive:

Nokia N96 Handset (Boxed)
Mains Charger
Headphones
Remote control
In-car charger
Video/Audio out cable (so you can attach it to your TV etc
USB Cable

The unit will be sim-locked but I understand it is relatively trivial and inexpensive to unlock. Also, I should mention the charger provided with this is a standard official nokia one purchased 3 months ago as opposed to the ever so slightly smaller travel one that it is supposed to come with. This is because I'm too kind and lent that to a friend!
Shipping/Payment:
Payment can be made via paypal (include fees please), BACS, or cheque.

I have good feedback here and on ebay should you wish to confirm my identity on there.

The phone will be posted via Royal Mail special delivery, the cost of which is included in the auction

If you call Vodafone mate they will give you an unlock code for free should you need it.

They do this with all contract phones.
#2
Really morrk? Thought they were only obliged to do that after 6 months? Great news if true and I'll give them a call to get the unlock sorted.

They did my N95 8GB after only a couple of weeks mate.
They don't do PAYG handsets until after 12 months however.

Would you be negotiable on price at all with this mate? And where might you be for collection?
#4
Hi any possibility of doing a trade with a n95 8gb fully unlocked and boxed with all the bits????
#5
Would you be interested in a px trade for a 1 week old K850i in Quicksilver black?
#6
Hi chaps/ladies. I'm not really a Sony Ericsson man, so I may have to turn that down unless there's a lot of money involved. The n95 8gb interests me, but again it would probably need quite a bit of cash on top.

Hi what kind of deal would you be looking for with my n95 8gb???
#8
I'd love to give you a number zedf but I'm honestly not sure. Suggest something so I know we're not poles apart.
#9
zedf - Much as an N95 and £30 sounds like an appealing offer I won't be taking it, because I'm not daft.

Chris, looking at how cheap they're going for on fleabay, as well as the mental anguish touchscreen interfaces cause me, it's going to be pushing up near £200.
#10
So how much would you take???
banned#11
£210 ?
#12
I'll offer £230 cash or my K850i (which cost me over £100 last week. I can prove this if need be) and £130 cash.
#13
Good condition N95 8GB+ some cash?
#14
I have a Nokia S60 phone already so there's no great driver to me getting an N95. I'd have to be looking at upwards of £100 in addition to an N95, depending greatly on condition.

Morrk - I'll consider it but £250 is a smashing price I think since all the sim free ones tend to float around £400. Feel free to prove me wrong though!
#15
I agree £250 is a good price mate but just a bit out of my range to be honest.

Was looking at these when I got the K850i last week and was looking at £270ish for a new one.

Decided against it then because I cannot justify spending that much on a phone, however let me know as my offer is there.

Cheers!
#16
Nevermind, I'll just wait for Innov8 to get here, sell of my n95 8gb on ebay, and probably get n96 or n97 as upgrade in June for free.
#17
£235 okay?
#18
dog_cop, gregfok, morrk & Quicklite, the first person to meet me at £240 will get the phone. I'll knock a fiver off if you want to meet in Leeds to pickup.

Can't say fairer than that?

Quicklite - The processor is slightly slower than the N95 but it's a more efficient design and it actually has 2 of them! Mad world when your phone can be multi-cored!
#19
I'm out mate.

I already had to beg the other half to let me go as high as I did. I think another tenner would mean divorce lol :)

Its not. ARM 11 is newer generation than ARM9 in N96, ARM11 were used to replace older 220mhz ARM9 in nokia 6680. You'll find ARM 11 are dynamically clocked to suit usage; ARM 9 is an outdated design, thus it may give poorer battery, cos it takes longer to complete same task.

And no, your wrong again, N96 only utilise one core for general operation, the other is not, the other is used to run underlining graphics API. Thats why the performance isn't great. Beside, despends on what you mean by dual core, my N95 too has it: 220mhz c55X DSP + 330 mhz ARM11

Good luck with the sales btw.

Quicklite - I didn't mean to mislead you buddy. My understanding was partially influence by this site - http://forums.arm.com/lofiversion/index.php?t4702.html

As you can see, the ARM11 won't always win out. Depends on apps. Besides, having a core dedicated to certain functions is surely a good thing? Akin to setting affinity on a PC. The O/S isn't optimised for duality of cores from what I've read so such an approach seems sensible.

Let me know chaps. I believe the price is pretty damn fair. They're certainly heading for more on the fleabay.

Great price for this phone

I saw that a while ago as well, and ARM11 didn't win due to error in programing technique. Where as most app developer rise beyond this, And in benches N96 is not nearly as good, N82 has same hardware basically as N95:

img523.imageshack.us/img523/9523/n96perfge2.gif

Sure, having a extra ARM 9 cpu, for certain API is good for certain things is good, but its not nearly as powerful as the dedicated GPU in OMAP 2420, and doesn't do 3D app acceleration.

Its neither here nor there, like comparing a laptop, one with Intel PM 735+ intel GMA to another with Intel C2D T9300+dedicated 8800m GTX .:whistling:

I wasn't the one to start 2 core thing. From this point of view, N95-2 has more powerful CPU as well graphics. period.

Though the price is pretty good.
#24
Hmm. Interesting results. Wonder what the reasoning was behind the design. Sure it wasn't for giggles so I'm sure they had a reason. Interesting debate though.
#25
hi plea can you tell us are the films plastics on the phone still front & rear . also have you made calls out with this phone. as you have used for 3 days. thanks.
#26
Hi 00deals4life. I have made a couple of calls on it yes, and the plastic film has been removed (mostly because Nokia insist on printing N Series or something like that across it, thus making it impossible to see the screen)
#27
Bump, anyone willing to meet asking?
#28
Hi stanglish still no possibility with a trade with a n95 8gb????
#29
I'm sorry mate, I'm really not all that keen on the phone. I would need £100 to even begin to consider it.

Would rather have the cash tbh!
#30
I've been watching one on Ebay today to gague a rough price and it went for £260. Seems they are not going for what they once were to be honest mate.

Item number : 160324527938
#31
It's a bit up and down from what I've seen morrk. To be honest I can't quite be bothered to list it but I will if it gets me the best price.

With that in mind I will accept the offer laid down by gregfok.

If you wish to match the offer then please do so. If I don't hear anything from greg by tomorrow, then it's yours. Just lie to the other half and have a couple of pints less this week
#32
Couldn't do that mate I'm a terrible liar and she sees throught me like Columbo whenever I try. :)
#33
Haha, no worries mate. Off to ebay it goes tomorrow if I don't hear back from greg or anybody else.
#34
trade for a lg cookie, a psp and some cash|?
#35
No thanks mate, not interested in those items.
#36

#37
How do I access it caspar? I presume it's a command?
#38
