what version is it on

Surely that's £10 one off?!?

I'm lead to believe its on 4.0, but as I can't connect it I cannot check, my SIM card doesn't fit into the phone, I didn't know they took Micro-SIM's.

Happy to send the IMEI and Serial number to anyone to check on Apple's website if that helps.

are you interested in a trade with a BlackBerry 8900 boxed good cond plus some cash
#5
macleodman, I was very ****** off when I spoke to Orange, the £10 is a "mandatory bundle" charged as long as you use the iPhone 4, I had a 3GS before and there was no charge, its an absolute con. I already have 1GB Data Plan I bought with the Blackberry I got off them. So they are basically saying they will charge me £120 a year to have an iPhone 4.

Andi, you know that you can cut down your sim card to fit in the phone? Done it to two of my iPhones.

I watched a Youtube tutorial on it and cut up a PAYG Sim Card, it came up with a message that "The sim card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"

Is that because its an Orange SIM and its a Vodafone phone or is it because it wasn't a 3G SIM?!

OP, get any payg sim, cut it down to size using templates off the internet, then see what firmware is on the phone if its 4.01 unlock using jailbreakme.com and then simply install ultrasnow and the phone will then be unlocked to all networks!

Does it need to be a Vodafone SIM?

if you bought the phone from vodaphone then yes, it you bought it direct from apple then it should already be unlocked!

It was a Vodafone contract!

Cloughmillsjoe - £450 is the lowest.

Fair enough

FYI - It's my Dad's upgrade, so he's not planning on any scams in the near future!

sounds to me like ur orange sim was cut up fine to me, but as the phone is locked to vodaphone the phone will not recognise it, the sim shouldnt matter be it 2g or 3g, a 2g sim in a 3g phone will just not allow the internet to work at maximum capacity, that orange £10p/m sounds completely out of order.. why i stick to pay and go :d

I could get this from vodafone brand new sealed. with 12 months mobile internet & Wi-Fi
250MB a month of mobile internet & webmail in the UK and 1GB a month of Wi-Fi with BT Openzone in the UK all for only £475 (£5 quidco)

So taking this into consideration would you be willing to go any lower as i would be interested at the right price.

what fw is it on? you say 4.0 if so jailbreak it then ultrasn0w to unlock takes minutes it would have to be a cut down vf sim to work untill unlocked

Hey geeza, i know youve just sold a 3gs but fancy a trade with an officially unlocked 3gs in white with warranty till august 2011 and £100 on top?

MarzBarz, the 3GS went to fund the iPhone 4 I bought from my Dad, but I do not seem to be having any luck. I am going to get a few PAYG Voda SIM's on my lunch and confirm either way what FW Version is on the phone.

But I may be interested in the trade if I can't get the SIM working as I refuse to pay an extra £10p/m to Orange. Is your 3GS Jailbreakable?
#21
it is on v4.0 at the moment :).
#22
mate if it's on 4.0 it is easy to jailbreak, just goto http://www.jailbreakme.com to jailbreak. Once uve jailbroken, unlock through cydia is straight forward

did u not get a vodafone sim with ur iphone 4?
#23
I've asked my Dad to try and get a SIM from work so I can check the FW, I just bought a SIM from the paper shop, cut it up as per the instructions but the gold bit of the SIM alone was too big, it was quite an old SIM.
#24
Let me know if you decide but offer retracted for now
#25
Got the Micro SIM of my Dad and it was an O2 SIM :|

I've put the SIM in and it's on FW 4.01.

Your good to go with the jb and unlock then :)
