Had the car for just short of twelve eventful months. Lovely car, just can't afford the insurance & petrol (a total of c. £230 a month..) Car starts first time every time.. and goes into every gear with ease (some Puntos have syncromesh problems). This car hasn't been thrown about like a toy, it's been looked after (but it can be quite fast when it wants to be :) )Car has been garaged overnight and the paintwork is in generally good condition with a few chips inline with its' age. Comes with an array of cleaning goods (Simoniz & Autoglym etc.) and half a tank of petrol(£25's worth.) During my ownership, it's had a lot of work done.. some forced, some chosen.. but car is mechanically standard & sound.. no boy racer induction kits, boost valves, etc. etc. TAXED UNTIL END OF APRIL MOT UNTIL END OF NOVEMBER 2009..!
Below is the full list of work done..
New wiper motor & arms (with modified pushrod joints to stop the wiper judder so common on Puntos), fitted with new wiper blades. c. £50. October 2008.
New cambelt, head gasket, thermostat, tensioner, engine rebuild (16 new valves, 4 valves guides and 4 tappets).. total cost £852 (after cambelt snapped). JANUARY 2008. £852. FULL RECEIPT
New cooling fan (old one burnt out), new oil, filter, coolant, spark plugs, and gearbox oil. All Fiat recommended fluids and parts. Total cost £157 FEBRUARY 2008. FULL RECEIPT
New alternator (old one got oil in it when oil cap was left off by mistake (we've all been there). £120. FULL RECEIPT. April 2008.
Receipts also present for work done on car before my ownership...
New Powerflow Cat Back exhaust March 2006..
New front brake pads £76 October 2005..
Car has just gone through it's MOT.. new rear brake shoes, and a rear numberplate bulb at a total of £165.04 (including MOT fee). Now MOT'd until end of November next year.
NOW! The good points...!
As shown in the photos... car has ORIGINAL sporting alloys, reconditioned and resprayed and lacquered with an red Abarth wheel center. 99% condition with very, very few marks. No receipts available for this, cost £170 in May this year.
Car has new Toyo T1-R tyres with a lot of tread. They've covered c. 4000 miles. Excellent tyres.
Car is endorsed in several places with the Fiat "Abarth" branding... on the wheels, rear badge, front badge, & door inlays, This gives the car a more individual look.
Car has tinted side repeaters and rear lights (up to the reflectors so as it passes MOT requirements.)
All lights work and car has Philips Osram Nightbreaker bulbs in the front headlights.
Interior is in excellent condition and has the original Fiat Blaupunkt radio/cassette player. Car specific mats. Richbrook titanium gearknob (the original fell off in my hand and will be supplied with the sale). :)
And.. the BAD points.. All cars have them. Some sellers will hide them from you, but not me...
Car currently has an oil leak. It gets through c. 2 litres of oil a month doing about 500 miles. I suspect it's the sump as it's looking very old now but I've not got round to fixing it. Doesn't affect the cars performance at all. Car holds its coolant so shouldn't be head gasket related (especially since HG was only done in January).
Car has three bodywork dents.. on on the front of the bumper (came with the car, looks like a bollard or something similar that the car has hit. One on the back of the boot door, under the lock, where the car hit a shelf in the garage when reversing. The final one is arguably the worst and was done in Sainsburys car park when I got too close to a trolley bay.. over the rear passenger wheel. All dents should be shown in photos.
Car has two interior tears.. one by the clutch, and another on the drivers seat from genral wear and tear and seatbelt rubbing over 7 years.
There you go. :)
Viewing welcomed. First to see will probably buy. Listing here to see if any interest before having to pay to list on well known websites..
Car also has calipers painted with Hammerite smooth in red.. Done when alooys were reconditioned in May.
TO ADD TO THE BAD POINTS...
Car comes with both keys, one that has central locking, but it doesn't work. The battery in the key went flat, and by taking the battery out, I reset the code, needing to be taken to Fiat at a cost of about £120 for two Central Locking enabled keys.
Car has NO aerial.. the radio in the car works without one, but not particularly well.. due to this, I used a FM transmitter on my iPod.
Comes complete with Punto Haynes manual.
RE: Central locking... REMOTE central locking on keys don't work, but the ACTUAL central locking does..!
