I have for sale an old laptop, an Acer Extensa 390CX, which would be ideal for Spares / Repair or breaking and selling on the components, or letting a child learn about computers...

It is old and is in fair condition visually, it does have marks, but the screen (13" ish) itself is good.

A few of the keys on the right hand side of the keyboard are sticky, but still work, I'd say in need of a good clean.

It has a Pentium 4 MMX processor and a CD drive, a 3Gb hard disk.

The laptop comes with a power supply which it needs to run, I think the battery has had its day, as well as a floppy disk drive! Yes a floppy drive! :)

It does boot up, into Windows 98, but needs a CMOS battery, not surprising considering its age.

It would be idea for breaking and selling, as the power supply goes for around £25 on ebay for these, the RAM for around £15.

Or with a little clean, to unstick the keys it would be perfect for a child to play with a computer without the worries of it being damaged.

It also comes with the case which is in great nick, and obviously could be used for any laptop, I'd say a 15" may even fit in it.

I was originally going to get rid of this to PC World / Currys and get a netbook, but I bought a MacBook, so this has no purpose any more. Everything bar Windows 98 has been removed from it.

Open to offers on this, so feel free to make one.

does this have wi-fi? and see you have a pic of it switched on,anything wrong with it?
#3
Pics are added there mate, nothing wrong with it other than sticky return key which does work and it needs a CMOS battery, it does not have wifi but there is a USB port at the back so I presume a wifi dongle could be installed, and the last one I purchased was only £2.50, as long as it works with windows 98 I can't see there being an issue? But I can't honestly say?

No idea what speed it is, the age of it must be what bumps up the price, still a great toy for a child, when they get sick of the iPods, xboxes and playstations :-)
#5

#6
The last one I bought was £1.60 ish from the local PC store
#7
is it easy to fix and is that def what wrong with it?
#8
I have never replaced one in a laptop before so hopefully seine who has can answer that for you? But in a desktop it os pop old one out, pop new one in. Easy job, you don't actually need one though it just tells you the battery is bad and to press F2 to continue and it boots up, everything else is as described it is just an old machine.

will need to see son in law first, but given age will offer £25?
