Has sub speaker which has Optical, Coax and Aux in so you can pretty much plug any games console or DVD player into it to get 5.1 sound out!

Hey bob, I don't dig your new avatar - I want the real man back!

I've been looking for a cheap surround sound system for a while - not important enough for me to fork out silly money. This one is a couple of years old so I think your asking price is a little high considering one of the reviewers on that link you provided mentioned the original purchase price ("I bought it in early 2006 and it has not gone wrong once. I bought it from Argos for £89.99").

And how would I hook this up to a 360 - does it have necessary cables?

Based on that info. I will remove my bid, was thinking £50 was the best price in the first place. Ermm its optical in if your using the 360 you just get an optical cable from the component bit.

Haha, I may well dig him outta retirement then!

I think £65 is a fair price as it is in perfect nick. All you would need is an optical, coax or phono cables (not supplied I'm afraid) and it would go straight into the sub on this system :-D

That's more like it - it was nearly a banning offence to have a picture of an ugly dog next to such a great username!

Ok, I know nothing about hooking these things up. If I have the 360 hooked up to my TV via HDMI, what would be the best solution to get these working with the TV and the 360?

You can't with the HDMI cables unless its official one
http://www.shopto.net/XBOX%20360/ACCESSORIES/XB2HDMICABLE-Xbox%20360%20HDMI%20Cable.html

As otherwise a normal HDMI cable blocks the optical out.
All you need is to plug the cable in and bam your away.

Sorry you have an ugly dog - but don't worry, he probably wouldn't understand me if I said it to his face. And the bitches probably think he's attractive. Who am I to judge..?

Right, I'm still maybe interested but not at £65 so I'll keep an eye on the thread for now. Thanks.

I don't see why not, if your TV has optical out then this would output it :)

Not really as your not getting true 5.1 from the TV. your not getting it from the source. I.e PS3 xbox dvd player.

Probably right there as TV programmes don't output in 5.1 so you would prob only get stereo when watching TV.

Only games console or DVD's output in 5.1

if playing dvd/ps3 through the tv via hdmi then outputting to 5.1 via optical would this work or would i need to output to 5.1 systen direct from ps3 and dvd? how many optical in's does this system have?

do it directly from ps3/dvd as otherwise your tv will only send stereo and then this system might upscale the music but it really wont be the same.
So:

AUDIO: PS3>optical lead>Acoustic Solutions DS533
VIDEO: PS3>hmdi lead>TV

Same applied for dvd (ensure your dvd has optical many dont) but then this Acoustic Solutions DS533 has coxial which most dvd players do have

PS3 has optical out on it. Just do it from there. Thats what I was planning to do with these. But I wouldn't pay more then £55.

You can connect your games console via optical and your DVD player via coax and then the remote allows you to switch between the 2 so you can have everything plugged in at the same time

Thanks but no thanks, £60 is the lowest I'd go as I'm pretty sure I can get that elsewhere which is where I'll be going!

Which then you will need to pay ebay fees on top off, plus paypal fees and likely get an idiot buy it or bid. Can I at least see some pictures to try and match that price.
