You don't really need a flashed one and which model are you looking for?

Bear in mind hat it isn't just as simple as swapping the drives out.

my old one is the liteon 7 series and after gettin it flashed its come back not reading any discs and making really loud grinding noises when a disc is in the drive =[
#3
that could be a bad sign, does it say put this disc in a 360?
#4
it happens after i put a game in and close the tray, it then grinds really loudly for about 10 seconds before stopping and saying open tray in dashboard

Is it lite touch ? The earlier versions had problems reading disks. You might just need to update it. Easier said than done if someone is doing it for you. I've got an xbox for sale with a controller for £69 here if it is broken.

i dunno what lite touch is. i just sent it away to be flashed by some guy but its come back to me like this

So you mean it has never worked since he sent it back to you?

If that's the case then chase this guy up. He has possibly damaged the drive when reassembling it since Liteon 7's need to be disassembled as part of the process.

You may need your drive backup file, or at least your key, which hopefully he has kept. He sounds like an idiot though to be honest.

yeh it was perfect before this =[ im posting it back to him since he thinks he can sort it. its at my cost tho so ill still be out of pocket either way. ive told him i want my money back if he cant fix it. itll prolly have to go towards a new drive tho
#9
No, no, no, he sent it back faulty, the costs should be his and if he has botched this without correctly dumping the key then your 360 could possibly even be dead now.

To be honest, this guy sounds like a cock and I wouldn't trust him if I were you and definitely do not give him any more money.

If he can't fix it but can provide the original drive key, which all good modders should have, I could do you a new drive for £28. I bought this drive off ebay brand new never used, it took ages to deliver to me so I had bought another during my wait.
#11
Yeah that sounds reasonable.

The only spare working drive I have at the moment is a Benq and LT should not be spoofed really.

ok ill wait n see. ill be intouch if i need it. i got the guys address but dont wanna see him face to face i might end up knocking him out. he said he has my drive details backed up so hopefully i get a restored drive and my money back minus the postage costs. i think thats all i can hope for now

I have to say mate, you're being a lot more calm about it than I would be and in all honesty this is why I decided to learn how to do these sorts of things myself when my local console repair shop closed down. I just don't trust most of the people who offer it online.

Hopefully it will all work out for you and it will be salvageable as long as a good extraction was done from your drive before he made any changes to it. He is possibly just an idiot who flashed it successfully and then reassembled and sent it back out before testing it.

does the casing that surrounds the drive have to be removed for the 7 series then? cuz the warranty seal was still intact, i know because i broke it myself today when i took the casing off to check the magnet and laser looked ok.

Yes it would unless he knows some way to safely remove the sticker without damaging it, but the drive's controller board needs to be probed for the key extraction so if he has just flashed this without getting the key first then your console is basically destroyed.
