Have a white DS that was bought from Amazon last month, so 11 months warranty remaining and purchase receipt available. Also have a matching Top Toy DS (also white) that is even newer and a 2 GB Kingston Micro SD that is newer again! Everything in pristine condition, used approx. 5 times by an adult! [see below]

Reason for selling: My partner is Japanese and we've found that many of the Japanese games we have purchased online do not work. Since we are taking a trip to Japan next month we have decided to sell this one and purchase a new one there to work around this game compatibility issue.

The only way this is worthwhile for us is we get the close to the purchase price back, as we have to buy the whole lot again. We are therefore only offereing the TTDS as an incentive to the buyer - we are willing to sell the DS on it's own but still want to get £93 delivered for it so it probably isn't worth your while as you'll get a new one for £99.99

We will sell the whole package for £129 plus delivery (Special Delivery = £5)

p.s. if someone buys this they will find a special bonus included (sorry, can't say what it is).
Shipping/Payment:
RM Special Deliv = £5
Payment by BT unless you fancy paying PP charges (£4.76)

i don't see how you can't get japanese games working on it, the DS is completely region free. i have numerous japanese games, and all of them work perfectly fine.

are you sure it's not down to you not having the latest DSTT firmware?

sorry to butt in, just trying to see if you can save yourself some money is all ;)

Thanks. Yes, i've got the latest firmware but still having probs. My friend google tells me that this is a common problem with (J) games. They are the only ones that present this issue.

for example, this from wikipedia:

Regional division
The Nintendo DS is region free in the sense that any console will run a Nintendo DS game purchased anywhere in the world. However, the Chinese version games can only be played on the Chinese iQue DS, whose larger firmware chip contains the required Chinese character glyph images. Although Nintendo DS of other regions cannot play the Chinese games, iQue DS can play games of other regions.

EDIT: btw, japan uses same characters as china, and this seems to be the prob. My partner has been able to play popular games like Mario in the J format but not the kanji-learning games and other educational software that most interests us... might try a few more options first though. Thanks again for the advice.

do you have any of the types of software we have the problem with? i.e. games that are based on kanji-learning etc, or have you only tried 'games'? If you have got the former to work, I'll definitely look into this further. Could simply be that I've got corrupted files in that case... thanks again for your input - Rep added
