Originally bought a slim 250GB PS3 just before Christmas which unfortunately broke last week.

Contacted Sony who arranged for a brand new one to be sent out (woman on the phone said usually a refurbished console would be sent, but as these were so recently introduced, there weren't any around). Enquired as to how long I was covered for under warranty and was told February 2011, as the warranty began when my new console was delivered. Have the paperwork given to me by the courier who delivered to pass on to whoever buys this.

Have decided to give the controller from my old console to my brother and as such, this unit comes with just the power supply cable and AV leads. The PS3 hasn't even been turned on, as I will be sticking to my 360 from now on.

Please no low ball offers as they will be ignored and any questions ask away.
Shipping/Payment:
Payment via PPG or Bank Transfer.

Will ship via DHL.

I take it you havent seen that they are only £245 brand new and delivered

http://www.shopto.net/PS3/HARDWARE/PS3SLIM03-Playstation%203%20Slim%20250GB%20Console.html

Factor in the £30 someone will have to pay for a DS3 controller................

Did the replacement model come with original product packaging? Was it a brand new machine & you have just unboxed it to take a photograph, & hence is all the packaging included with the sale?

PS. How did your previous PS3 Slim fail?

Hi fanpages,

The replacement comprised of the console only. Sony have told me that it is a brand new machine and mentioned specifically that it had not been refurbished. I would have included packaging from the original console, had it not been the perfect size for sending something else that I sold. Therefore, no packaging is included in the console, though any buyer can rest assured that it will arrive securely and safely packaged.

The previous console actually got the YLOD fault.
(Incidentally, Sony didn't like me using this term, they assured me it meant 'general hardware failure').

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your comprehensive reply but unfortunately due to the lack of box means I will not be making an offer.

Hmmm... a "YLOD" on a Slimline machine? That is the first one I've heard of.

Maybe it was a fault that resulting in the same result externally, but the cause of the "Yellow Light of Death" was not the same as the original PS3 consoles hence why Sony referred to it as a "general hardware failure" (as this is a 'catch all' for any issue they cannot identify immediately).

Either way, good luck with your sale. Maybe it will help if you can offer a game title or two (for the same price) as most people expect a PS3 slimline as a 'bundle'. The lack of a controller will certainly not be helping, so perhaps you could source one from elsewhere & offer this in your sale as well.

Thanks.

I didn't know whether n1ck09 had gone back to the original retailer & asked for an exchange (and a boxed new item was sent directly from Sony) or not.

Within the first twelve months you should really return the faulty product to the original place of sale. It is their responsibility to send it back to Sony on your behalf & to provide you with a replacement.

Going direct to Sony obviously works (in this case) but, as we have seen, the original packaging is not supplied.

No worries, thanks for your interest.

I must say I was surprised too to get the fault as I thought it was something that would have likely been resolved since the introduction of these slim consoles.

Games have all gone to my brother too, am hoping that the person who buys this may be someone who already owns an older 'fat' PS3 and is looking to upgrade and as such, has a controller and games already.

Thanks again,
Nick

Afraid I'm not really after anything 360 wise, just cash.

I'd prefer it if the buyer sorted out a controller for them self if I'm honest, do feel free to make an offer though.

Go on then, I've got plenty of controllers, & games, and you have great feedback... so I'll get the virtual ball rolling:

I'll offer £160 + insured courier charges arranged by you. Payment to be made by deposit in cash into a high street bank.

"Porcel Farce" is OK, if you wish, but if the item is damaged in transit I would be looking for compensation that covers both our interests.

If this is too low at least it gives you a starting point for others to make further offers.

I would have offered higher but I would have liked the original, box, as discussed.

BFN,

fp.

[EDIT]: Just noticed you mentioned "DHL" in the opening post. Do you have an idea how much they charge for delivery to a mainland UK address?

[EDIT #2]: Sorry, I realised what I typed may be (read: is) ambiguous.

I was offering £160 + the cost of the courier.

The courier to be arranged by you (not by me); but I will meet the costs of the delivery.

Hope that is clear now :)

Thanks for the offer but if I'm honest, it's too low.

Have to say that I avoid Parcel Force like the plaque, had some truly awful experiences with them.

With DHL it's £8.21 (£6.99 + VAT) 24-72 Hours. I've probably used this particular service 7/8 times and every time delivery has been next day. Always arrange through parcel2go.com (£4 Quidco if you haven't used them before).

Yes, I've had a couple of bad instances of shoddy service (& breakages) with Porcel Farce as well. Eight weeks to get a refund & several forms to fill in. I would prefer not to use them again also.

Thanks for the costs for DHL/Parcel2Go.com.

I'll keep subscribed to your thread & see if anybody betters my offer in the next few hours/days.

BFN,

fp.

PS. Another tip to gain interest: Take a photo of the underside showing the date of manufacturer (if it is displayed there). Be sure to blank out some of the digits of the serial number of the unit though (in case anybody tries to make a subsequent [fraudulent] claim with it).

I could offer £175 plus what ever postage is if interested?
