I've had this laptop for about 16 months now, recently it developed a fault, it started over heating). Turns out it is a fairly common fault, and could be a heatsink issue, i disassembled the laptop, re pasted and seated the heatsink, but there wasn't much of a difference. I was in a hurry (deadlines) so i did a quick job.

I needed a fully functioning laptop immediately, so i went and bought a new one. There's is nothing wrong with this laptop at all, besides the over heating (its also missing a few screws all the chassis/hinge screws are there of course).

All the laptop needs is either a little money invested in getting it professionally serviced, or a little time invested by someone with the skills and tools required.

Im looking for a quick sale, so i will take £150 + del

£60 here or trade for a new Q8300 cpu
#5
Waaaaay too low dude. Check the bay, theres one on there now, in worse cond (no ram) for 150 with 12 hours or so left.
#6
you after any trades, got a Creative Zen Vision m, plus £50
#7
Well, im not averse to trades, would prefer cash though. Unfortunately i don't need an MP3 player.

I thought it may be but I just offered that because I got one of a similar spec for £60 before that just had a loose wire and worked perfectly though was sold as faulty whearas yours is likely a bigger fault.

You after any pc parts? I have loads of stuff.

£80 delivered max offer
#10
I'll keep the offer of 80 in mind, but i think that's too low for the spec and condition.

Ive had another look on the bay, and i think that 150 is too high. So im lowering the price to £125 which is very reasonable.

And i think you got really good deal there!

what happens when it overheats, what screws are missing,
would you do £75 plus the Zen(these sell for up to £50+ on the bay)would need the hdd for the install partition, you could do that first.
banned#13
offer withdrawn its not worth my offer if its overheated already (which it has) other damage is likely to have taken place
#14
Ok bob, no worries.

For anyone else that is concerned about damage, you neednt worry, when the chipset gets hot, the CPU underclocks considerably which brings the temp back under control but results in a performance drop.

riget, i will keep your offer in mind, but i am looking for closer to the revised asking price of £125 because i dont really want the hassle of selling something on.

Cosmetically the laptop is in great condition, as you can see from the pics, the screen is in mint condition, and there are no dead pixels or anything, the case has a few marks on it, but because i always transported it in neoprene sleeve, its in excellent nic.

I would consider £110 and the player if you are ok with a DVD of the recovery partition. I would also include some lightscribe discs, as my new laptop doesnt have a light scribe drive.

Hello,

I dont know how many, but if i had to guess i would say 4. I have a little tray with some of the screws in because when i disassembled it i didn't put them all back in in case i had to take it apart again.

Obviously i will give you those... honestly, i don't know what happened to the other screws (none are structural, its just 4 along the front edge that keep the fascia from un clipping. The fascia is securely clipped btw). I regularly take electronics apart to service or scavenge, and have never lost any before, so its a total mystery!

To answer your question, the hinge screws are in tact (or rather present, and undamaged... the threads are perfect, as are the screw heads).

I do not have the original box, i moved house... Ive had a hunt around and i cant find any relevant discs, but im more than happy to burn the recovery partition to disc for you. The laptop was supplied with Vista Home Premium, there is a COA on the base of the laptop.

I would really like it if you could go to £125 inc del, so i can clear £110 after postage. But if £120 is your max, i will accept.

Any more questions/pics please let me know.

Thanks

J

I'll go £100 and the Zen if you include the hard drive.

How long does it run before over-heating? I might be able to get away with this as I have a project that requires 5 laptops for occasional use. They are only needed over the length of one tutorial, so would be used for non-intensive operation for about 50 mins at a stretch. Would this handle that?
#18
Not really, you get about 10 minutes.... but when it gets hot, it dosnt stay hot... assuming that its not too intensive, it should be fine... i used it for net browsing etc with no issies, can watch flash videos too with little problem...

riget, ill bear your offer in mind :)
#19
riget,

I dont really want the hassle of selling on the MP3 player, would you be prepared to up your cash offer at all?

Thanks :)
