Why was it returned, did they state why it wasnt repaired.
#2
Psu failure is what they told me

What colour is PSU light when plugged in and RROD showing, any idea. Were they talking about PSU Brick, this doesnt get sent off when you send for a repair at least not to MS anyhow or it didnt when I used service 2 years ago. Was it just actual console you sent off for repair. New one on me, PSU failure wouldnt cause RROD. Is warranty seal still intact under front panel on Xbox. Is there signs of a failed repair, if it is just RROD then easy fix for me but if PSU failed would just use another one.

Power brick is fine, It was just the console sent off and they told me it was an onboard PSU failure which is un-fixable. They had replaced several other parts but it still had RROD. I dont know about seal as it was not MS i sent it too. I'm gutted really tbh. I wanted it fixed :(
It was displaying 3 red rings, error code 0001 when i sent it in.

Error does relate to Power Supply Failure but in conjunction with your main PSU also. You tried your PSU on another machine or vice versas tried another on yours. This fix is quite straight forward usually if it is PSU but you may have a short.

If you want couple of DIy tricks you could try first to see if you can resolve them. Remove board from XBOX 360 and use soft brissled small brush and rubbing alcohol an clean board down.

Have a go and see if it works, maybe mall metal dust fragments creating a connection. If no luck then you will need a decent multimeter, soldering iron, huge amounts of patience and a steady hand as you will need to check Transistors aren't blown, but you have to remove them from Board first, you may also need to check memory controller as well.

Or you could do a full reflow, of CPU, GPU etc but risky but could fix it. Another fix could be to cook it but would still need to check voltage flow. If transistors are blown and shorted then wont work but try leaving it on and check temps

To some this maybe easy, to others not so easy. Its depends. If you feel you are technically minded and want to try out something new then go start. Not as if you are going to lose anything your 360 is big plastic useless brick any how.

This issue is more common on boards prior to falcon and saying that these are the ones that literally arent worth very much nowadays.

There is info out there. It can be fixed but as you seem gutted might be best trying it out for yourself. I would be interested but is fix like this needed I just dont have the time at the moment, too much troubleshooting to go through

Spent 6 years of my life in Army maintaining and fixing Target Acquisition systems for MLRS and Fire Control Systems, Thermal Imaging and Sighting Systems on Challenger 2 MBTs so retained som etechinical hardware knowledge with comes in handy todays everyday world.

But good luck with whatever you decide, need any help if do go on a DIY mission will help you out.

I'll have a look if i still have the letter they sent me back with all the details. Being a women as much as i would love to have a go at fixing it i'm more likely to do more damage than good tbh.
