I'm offering for sale an Xbox i know very little about.
I bought it with the intention of getting it fixed and buying the leads... however...... I was buying with the intention of using a friends leads and finding out the exact problem. When i went to try her leads they didn't fit :( she has the black console. So to find out the problem, i would have to buy all leads and controller and games etc.
I have received some advice today and looked into registering the console, however if i did that then went to sell it, it would be pretty pointless.
The warranty stick still looks in tact to me if a little wobbly? - Not sure how its surpose to look.
I'm not sure if the previous owners ever did register it and well didn't think to ask.....

Ok manufacture Date is 28 th October 2006, when i bought the console she said that the console reads Dvds but not games but then said that Gamestation had told her the problem commonly knows as RROD. So i'm not too sure.

The HDD drive is there, although im not sure if that has been opened at some time as well there are no screw holding it together and seems to come apart quite easily.

I have taken a picture of the console where it was left resting by a radiator pipe and slightly melted the grey bit :(

Ok... so just to claify being sold as spare or repair, i have no idea in reality what is wrong with it and thus is being sold as untested. I am asking less than i paid for it. the console still has origional box and all leaflets, but is console and hdd only.

I'll add some pics later (probably get to this evening)

Asking price £50 plus actual postage...... Will cost less to send unboxed......

Also just to clarify im not sure what is the matter with it....thanks

You not have another xbox to try it on, because you can recoup £25 quid there.
And sell the console alone for £30-35

Also if its RROD Microsoft will repair it for free, as its less than 3 years old

I thought that but then thought well if its not RROD then im not sure.. I basically bought it blind (thought it was a good idea at the time) they didnt know themselves what was wrong with it. I don't have any leads etc to check whether it has RROD either...lol....otherwise i would.

This ones easy to test. Basically unclip her hard drive off the top of the xbox elite. When switched off.
Then plug yours in boot. If you can access the hard drive and theres no clicking or driver errors working drive.
I would take the risk of buying the drive for £8-10 if you want to get rid.

I did tell you in your MISC thread about this that a 360 that only reads DVD videos but not GAMES, has 99% had a bad flash attempt made and the key lost. Rendering the 360 useless for games as this cannot be recovered. Noisey DVD player at most.

I'm getting it checked tomorrow as surely it wouldnt play dvds either? She said it plays the dvds fine. She said it had RROD so i have finally found a friend of a friend who's going to try it for me... so i'll know for sure

RROD is RED RING OF DEATH, you turn it n and it shows you 3 red lights, (4 is an AV cable issue, plug in an AV cable, it doesnt have to be plugged in at the TV end, only in the console, then turn back on.)

If it gets to the dashboard and seems to work as normal but ONLY PLAYS DVD's and NOT GAMES. Then it is as i have said, A BAD FLASH attempt made to make it play copied games, when the KEY IS LOST, the drive still plays DVD's, just not GAMES, and is not just a case of changing the DVD drive, once the key is lost from a bad flash, you cannot get it back.
