HP Compaq Purchased for £450

I'm an IT Professional so this laptop has been used mainly for work (Programming etc)

It has a lot of excellent software on it, but will delete as required (Or add as required)

In the past 6 months I have had professionally fitted a new power socket and refitting of motherboard etc at a cost of £90, email receipt can be passed on if requested. Laptop works perfectly fine, no problems at all, wifi enabled.

The ONLY problem is with the screen a single white line going down a 3rd of the way in. This is not noticable in some light, its something I have not looked into getting fixed so not sure on prices, I have used it fine like this for the past 6 months though.
Mobile AMD Sempron
Processor 3500+
1.79GHZ, 1G RAM

Hmm... I'm still two cheap laptops short for my project, but a bit worried about this line on screen. Any idea what the issue is and whether it signals the imminent failure of the screen? You say it is not noticeable in some light, but looking at the pics, I imagine that if the background is anything other than white, it will be noticeable... No? Please put the full specs and model number, including whether there is a slot free for extra RAM. Wireless N? Thanks.

The problem is because of the connection to the actual screen from the harness, theres no easy way to fix it, but also it wont get any worse. If you press the screen with your finger the line goes away, but will soon come back due to the poor connection.

The price does reflect this issue though, its been like this for a while now and its never affected my work.

The model is an nx6325

Ok, thanks for that. A few more questions: which battery (4 cell, 6 cell) and what kind of life does it have? does it come with the original discs to reinstall OS and drivers if needed? valid COA sticker and key for Win XP (is it XP Pro or XP home - 32 bit or 64)? my previous question about RAM - is it one stick of 1GB or 2 x 512MB? Express Card/34 or ExpressCard/54, and working fine?

EDIT: Questions listed again for ease of reading/answering:

1. Battery (4 cell, 6 cell) and what kind of life does it have?

2. Original discs to reinstall OS and drivers if needed?

3. Valid COA sticker and key for Win XP

4. XP Pro or XP home - 32 bit or 64?

5. RAM - 1 x 1GB or 2 x 512MB?

6. Express Card/34 or ExpressCard/54, and working fine?

erm... since you are an IT professional, I'm surprised you can't answer the questions fully. Let me ask again, with instructions:

1. Battery size (remove the battery and post the model number. I'll check)
1a. You have no idea how long the battery holds a charge?
4. XP Veriosn (it will say on startup screen. Otherwise, View System Properties in Control Panel, Click Start, and then click Run. Type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK. Click the General tab. The operating system is displayed as follows: For a 64-bit version operating system: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year> appears under System. For a 32-bit version operating system: Windows XP Professional Version appears under System.
5. Easy to check manually or by using software, but I'll leave this one aside
6. ExpressCard 34 = 34mm wide and ExpressCard/54 = 54mm wide. Check device manager to see if it is working.

and finally, is the laptop recovery disc the original one that came with the machine or one you have burned yourself?

Yes Im an IT professional of 5 years (Worked for Capita and now working for Adobe), amazingly not everyone who works in IT needs the knowledge of componants and hardware.
Anyway I understand how to check for all the answers however it is already boxed etc (Like my items in my DVD-R sale yesterday)

1.Itx boxed already
1a.I would estimate 3 hours
4.I just wiped the machine and installed XP before boxing it I cant remember what version of XP I put on it as I own several
5.Again its packaged
6.again its packaged

Well, since you don't seem willing to open the box (how hard can that be?), I can only assume you either can't be bothered selling it to me, or that you are keen to avoid answering one or more of my questions. But ho-hum, it's your prerogative who you sell to. Thanks anyway and gl with the sale.
