I have for sale my HP Pavilion dv2630ea Entertainment Laptop. It is just more than a year old and out of warranty unfortunately. The motherboard is not working and will need replacing, which is a common fault with this series. Everything else is in almost new condition. Screen has no scratches.

My friend helped format my HDD and accidentally formatted the restore partition as well. You will need to install your own OS. I was running Win7 on it with no problems.

For the techie who wants a side project this Christmas/ New Year break or for spares.

Hi, you do know that HP extended the warranty of this line of laptop?? They will repair it even thou it's over 12 months old, as long as the fault is the same common issue.

unfortunately, my laptop isn't listed amongst the part numbers - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&cc=us

i tried. :)

How old is the laptop, you say just over a year. Do you still have reciept/proof of purchase as it's likely your still covered.
#8
seriously take it back and kick up a fuss...a year is not a good life span for a laptop by any stretch of the imagination.

thanks for the suggestions guys. honestly i tried all means available. guess i'll flog it on ebay if no takers here.

well, me. based on my knowledge of PC troubleshooting and the limitless wisdom of google.

the GPU is attached to the MB and tends to overheat in this model (crap design), and when the GPU burns out, you have to replace the whole MB. laptop starts up with the screen showing 2 columns, 3 rows of the mini screens. that's when i knew my GPU was kicking it.

Not worth buying at this price the mobos are ridiculously priced, my advice would be to sell it on ebay either in parts or as it is.

Yeah, the motherboards are ~£200 in all my local computer shops which is a lot considering I've seen these go brand-new on eBay with 1 year warranty for £270-£300 recently.
