Quite a strange one, this. Was found in a pair of jeans that were bought from a local charity shop. The item was taken back but nobody has been back to claim the ring a few days later and so we were told we could keep it.
Working in the gold industry, I set about testing the item to find its' value.. The ring has a FULL UK hallmark (750 stamp, assay office and makers initials), making it 18ct white gold, and 15 diamonds that I estimate to be 0.25 (or 1/4) a carat of diamond in total. These diamonds have been tested by a professional thermal heat diamond tester & are extremely clean, clear and unmarked. In the centre of the ring is what I guess is an emerald. I have no proof of this, but it's a much darker green than, say, peridot. Emerald is the birthstone for May.
I value this ring at over £200 and a second opinion has backed this up. In the current climate, with the price of gold increasing, it's a beatiful, if not strange, ring, with good investment properties.
The size of the ring is unknown, but if it helps, it's almost exactly the same size as a 5p piece (a 5p is ever so slightly larger than the ring).
