I don't think it matters if the originals are damaged or not ;)

Do you know which "mod chip" is installed (manufacturer & version), whether the firmware on the chip can be updated, &/or whether the "modification" can be enabled/disabled by software or by a hardware-based switch?

Did you make the modifications, or was this undertaken by a friend or professional/specialist?

Thanks.

Not sure which Mod chip it is, all is fine online etc.
Firmware can be updated as far as im aware.
Mod cannot be switched off
Modification was done by a company in Manchester who does them, and they will replace, upgrade etc for small fees if required.

Thanks. I no longer live in Manchester. I wouldn't be happy entrusting a console to the UK's postal services & I would want a modification that was hardware-switchable so that it could be turned off for titles that can detect the presence of "mod chip".

Have you updated the Wii to the latest System Software (firmware revision) [4.3 / 21 June 2010] & then tried to use the features of the "mod chip"?

Not updated fireware to latest version June 2010.
Last update was late last year.

All works fine with online etc, mod I was told is undetectable by fitter.

No, I think the seller worded his reply sensibly & to conform to HotUKDeals "For Sale / For Trade" rules related to this matter.

So far the only violation of law has been "done by a company in Manchester".

I asked this with the company as I wanted it done so I can play USA games, they do it at the trade shows etc and they said what they did is not breaking any rules, its if you use it for playing copied games which is.

Hmmm... version 4.2 was available from 28 September 2009, but this did not include the anti-modification & preventative measures for homebrew exploits that version 4.3 includes.

Without knowing the actual "mod chip" installed (& whether it has already had a firmware update released to counter version 4.3, or indeed if the firmware on the chip can be upgraded as you are not entirely sure of this fact) I think this unit will not be for me.

Good luck with your sale.

It depends where the "mod chip" was sourced from originally, how (& where) it was installed, & who created the image of the title(s) used on it, rather than anything the "end user" does.

Are you prepared to name the organisation in Manchester or are you specifically retaining the information to protect them (and hence yourself) or because you think it may jeopardise your sale?

Either way, as I mentioned above, I don't think this unit is for me.

Thanks again.
