I wouldnt rush n buy scratchy post , ive had 2 cats over the years and neither used it.
An old fruit box from tesco and a blanket will do for now.
My sister cat will only sleep at foot of sink in bathroom ( im guessing the hot wtaer pipe must be nicest there) or on her bed) He dont even get up on furniture.

Have you not heard of the saying " Women and cats will do as they please..........Men and dogs just have to learn to live with it". Meaning no matter what a cat will do as they please.

Newspapers, balls of string , go go hamsters and balls are fab toys and all you need.

try places like b&m, pound shops, and home bargains
our cats like their scratching post, but they also like our surround sound speakers for the same reason
they never sleep in a bed thow, theyr quite happy on a couch, bed, in front of the fire etc

We have 3 cats, they just sleep whereever they want, including an actual cat bed! If you can get a scratching post and get them to use it, then great, ours use theirs, occasionaly, but mostly the carpet on the stairs.
We got this one from Argos, £6.99, perfect for training

Other than that, just get toys from supermarkets, ping pong balls are great, our cats play for ages with them.

Do you have a discount place like InExcess? Always good for discount pet things.

Edit: Things like a cat carrier you might be able to get a good one secondhand (as they are so rarely in them!) from either eBay or an advert in the local pet store/vets/paper/window of newsagents.

Our cat sleeps wherever she pleases - sofa/chairs/beds/by airing cupboard/dogs bed (her fave place, especially when dog looks longingly in wanting to go for a nap and the cat does a big stretch to rub it in :giggle: ).

Food-wise, don't spoil the cat with expensive food as they might get a taste for it and refuse to eat Whiskers or Felix ever again - been there, done that and have to compromise with Felix 'as good as it looks' as the 'meoooooowwwwwwwwws' get progressively worse and she knows I'll give in for some peace and quiet after several hours/days depending on how much she decides on that day to be fussy. Plus she will leave several 'presents' in the form of guts, skulls and tails (she eats the rest - ewwww) for me on the doorstep when she's stroppy. I love her to bits though, the best cat in the world.

agreed with the cats sleep anywhere sentiments.
important are getting things to stop fleas and earmites, although i don;t know how old they need to start this.
also get something to get the fur off of furniture!
cats toys in tesco/asda are decent enough, something with catnip in :)

Well mine LOVES his scratch post - it's literally torn to shreds and needs replacing.

Home Bargains is good for cheap pet purchases...ours sleeps on an old cushion from the sofa, toys wise anything that rattles or jingles he loves. He has a long tunnel that he likes to play in, but leave one of those proper bag for life (the heavy duty one not plaggy) ifrom Tesco's on the kitchen floor and he'll spend hours jumping in and out of it.

As soon as you get them home de-flea them - you'll be surprised! Ours didn't show any visible signs but from experience we de-flea'd him as soon as we got home (I'm sure we used a liquid or tablet that was ingested) and then within half an hour or so the fleas literally fell off him dying (yuck)! If we hadn't have done it we'd have had to de-flea the whole house :)

I have three cats all brought up from birth. Cats love sisal for there claws so its worth buying a post but i wouldn't recommend paying over the odds for one unless your flush. You could even make one as i did with some chipboard cheap carpet and sisal rope and a decent glue gun, all cheap enough off ebay. There are plenty of DIY cat tree threads on google if your feeling handy.
Alternatively look on freecycle as people often get rid of cat trees due to cats growing out of them. I would most certainly not recommend to not give them anything as they will without a doubt use the sofa/surround speakers/wallpaper or anything else to scratch.
Sleep wise cats love anywhere warm so near a window on a blanket a bed a radiator, have many beds and all are redundant due to lack of use.
Toys choose ping pongs, rubber balls, tethers with something fury with bell on end helps them to practice hunting. My youngest cat got most enjoyment from a scrunched up ball of paper on a laminate floor!
one toy we did buy was like a track thing with a ball on it that they push up and down , cannot think of the name of it will have a look and post back, all the cats have enjoyed this massively.

you advert says FOR SALE, you need to change it to WANTED

its the mods that do that, they edit each title to put wtd or fs and iv noticed they often put fs on a wanted ad

All you need is a bottle of spray catnip & anything can become a toy, cuddly toys etc. The best thing we ever got ours (from whittards & sadly no longer trades) were catnip tea bags (they look scabby now) but they still play with them!!! I have 4 cats and I have all the toys in a box & they all have their favs & drag them out, lol. I got a cat tunnel from Tesco yrs ago & that too is one of the most played with items. But a rolled up bit of tin foil costs nothing, yet they love that too.

Only one of my 4 will sleep on a bed,the rest preferring, landing, stairs, bed, so I wouldn't even bother, or like what's been said a box will usually suffice. As for a scratching post, get a cheap one, as they will only scratch it to death (cover in spray catnip) as it will get them used to the post, this will save your carpets, curtains, furniture & wallpaper!!!!
