Can the warranty be transferred from the original purchaser?

Can the phone be unlocked by three this early on in the contract?

Yes, good idea. I will break the seal on the box to check all items and take a photo.

I will also check with three about the warranty, although I'm quite sure this won't be a problem as I sent a k800i phone for free repair that I bought off eBay.

Will check also about unlocking and also whether there is any branding on the phone (but again don't think there is).

Answers to these questions and photo will be posted sometime tomorrow (Thursday). Thanks both.

FYI, Apparently 3 will unlock for a £15 fee they say is charged directly from Sony Ericcson (I pushed to have it waived of course).

They need to get permission from the original owner (i.e. me) to send the unlocking code to the new owner (i.e. you) and can do this either by:

(a) me giving them your name and verbal permission and giving you the account password (erm...wouldn't like to do that last bit for anyone!) - or,

(b) me giving verbal permission and then they phone you on a conference call along with me so that they can get both parties agree to the unlocking together!

A bit complicated but at least it can be done. But I will need to confirm this again because the operator seemed a bit unsure of himself and kept putting me on hold (a trainee asking a supervisor for answers?). I wouldn't feel secure that this is guaranteed until I hear it again and take a name.

Here is the picture of the new phone. Box just opened to check all contents working but phone not turned on yet (and won't unless someone wants me to check it).

Does it come with a memory card?

Yes, a 512MB M2 card. Cheers.

£150?

i wonder if you complete the unlocking process above, will the phone be unbranded in that i mean the "3 planet" removed from the menu system
#10
Not sure about that, but should tell you that I've just noticed a small '3' sign on the bottom left of the camera side of the phone. Hardly noticeable but it's there.

£150?

Sorry, no. I can definitely get more on ebay. have checked the most recent endings for 3 phones and they've been above £200 incl. delivery. I've calculated my price based on ebay savings (listing and final valuation fees) and also knocked down a bit more.

Btw, I've got two of these - both delivered today as upgrades to mine and my partners contracts - I've just turned mine on (I'm keeping mine and selling my k800i - another thread soon) and found that it has a touch screen on the bottom part of the screen for commands. How cool is that? Didn't expect it but a pleasant surprise!

Thanks - what memory card do you have on the other phone (k800i) and how much are you looking for that?
#14
1GB on the k800i I think. Will check that. Or alternatively can swap them round on phones if necessary. Probably looking for ITRO £60 for k800i. Need to check ebay prices and think about that. I got it in June but it is in near new condition (I'm a light user, less thab 200 mins per month and don't make use of many features - e.g never use MP3 player, radio, rarely use camera). let me know if any interest in either the k850i or k800i. Thanks

I would properly change the case on it so that wouldn't bother me too much, i would just be worried about the 3 planet and the other options in the menu

Sorry, don't know much about that. Does anyone else here know whether the software can be removed during the unbranding process? I have no experience with these things as I've only ever been with three. They are by far the cheapest network for my useage/needs. I'll take a look online and see what I can find out - maybe you can do the same if you are genuinely interested? Thanks
