512Mb, & Windows Office XP (2003)... how slow is Word or Excel to start from a cold boot?

20... 30 seconds... longer?

Also, how do you install software?

Do you need to use an external USB CD/DVD-ROM?

BFN,

fp.

EDIT:
I see what you mean about the more desirable newer model:

20-30 seconds is about fair. Yes to install software there are 3 options External cd/dvd drive (usb) or USB flash which is how I updated all the latest OQO drivers or network boot.

When I bought the Model 01+ I did so because it was fantastic value for money, but now I can afford the 02 ... but this is still a fantastic peice of kit

Thanks. I do appreciate your reply, but given the reviewer's criticism of the screen brightness, I would probably be disappointed with it (too).

The "e2" model seems to be the one to go for (available from Expansys from 31/10/2007):

I sold a Casio Fiva Tablet PC [MPC-501M40E] on eBay in April 2005 with a much lower specification than your kit (above) & got over £300 for it, so I don't doubt you'll be able to sell for your expected price if you do not find an interested party here.

Good luck.

I appreciate that, thanks :) Yea the E2 looks fab, I'd love one, in all honesty I've never had a model 2 to look at or test but it looks awesome ... £1200 though :(

There are a few of your current model on eBay presently, so if you get £400-£450 for it, then you'll just have to find £750-£800 for the newer model.

And if you don't go for 120Gb drive, top of the range, model just the 60Gb model without MS-Office bundled with it you save another £150:

It probably shows how good your kit is if you are selling just to upgrade.

Give it until tomorrow morning & list on eBay for 3 days, if it doesn't sell come back here again. Just be sure to ask a Moderator to close this thread if you are offering for sale elsewhere.

BFN,

fp.

Yea I love it, and it really is good, my parents complain its too small for them, but thats because theyre old and their eyes cant handle the size, but then again they are over 50 ...

Personally its just right, exactly what a UMPC should be and do.. if nobody is interested I'll just keep it :)

Hi,

Did you sell your OQO device?

I'm now more actively looking for a handheld/Ultra Mobile PC (as I fed up with my XDA Mini S), and wondered if you'd either still got yours to sell, or if you had managed to get your hands on the newer model yet & could offer a review.

Hey fanpages, I did sell mine in the end on ebay for £400 + p&p, I was going to buy the Model E2 as it looked awesome, but I got swayed by people on here and the umpc forum to go for the Asus EEE PC701 and I was not dissapointed.

The Linux based OS lets you do everything a PC can do and it has a much better keyboard than the OQO's however they are in different scale zones I would say, what with the OQO being a truly ultra mobile HANDHELD device and the EEE being an ultra mobile use it anywhere there is a surface device (even if the surface is your lap)

But when it came down to it, the £800 price difference was huge so I went for the asus and I love it. I recommend it to everyone!
